Simple, inexpensive parallel guides

Here is my take on homemade parallel guides mostly made from scrap pieces of 1/2" plywood and some bits of hardware. The key component is the aluminum clip cut from an old Hirsch 2 piece cuuting guide (from the "80's). The dim.'s on the "J" hook for the splice plate are absolutely perfect ! The most expensive pieces were the self sticking measuring tapes. You will note I also made some fixed dimension sets for "idiot" proof set up. These are made to 11 1/4", 12", 15 1/4", 16", 23 1/4"/24".  There are also some "clamp blocks" for use in skewed cuts as well as rips less than 8". Enjoy !

Thanks,

These are a joy to use  [big grin]. I lucked out with the extrusion from the Hirsch cutting guide. I was initially looking for something with a right angle and after cutting it up into 3" long clips I realized the the "j " hook designed for the splice plate would fit and hold it on !

I keep my eye out for other extrusions that would also work. The Swanson cutting guide from Lowes ( about $20) looks promising. It doesn't have a "J" hook but has a bevel similar to a dovetail. mmmm.....

Cheers,

Bruce

Hello Bruce, the link to your parallel guide is not working . Is the information still available ?? Or do you have an update on building your design?
Thanks
