Simplest "boom arm"

I had all sorts of plans to make a boom arm after the various inspirations here.
Then I found something that works amazingly and it's embarrassingly simple.
A bit of bungee cord, a knot and a hook:

Well, if you REALLY want it to be a boom arm for your Festool vac, then you're going to have to paint it green.

On a (slightly) more serious note, I snagged 5 tool balancers on ebay for $40, adjustable from 1.5-3# of tension. 2 of them make an awesome hose retractor:

And I couldn't think of anything clever to add to the previous comments...  [scratch chin]

Gorilla Sleeve - I think ToolNut sells it or it is available online under the brand name of "techflex": http://www.techflex.com/prod_nhn.asp.

I want to see you use it outside  [wink]

Easy, just go to the lumber yard and pick up a sky hook and while you are there grab some toe nails.

How's this for color?  8)

By chance ...... really. This is an adjustable bungee cord, that I picked up. Color coded based on the length.  I didn't like it much as a bungee cord so it ended up  being put to use for a hose holder.

Awesome!!! How do you like the functionality Seth? I got two bike hooks today I was going to screw into the joists overhead in my shop, but I like the idea of the pliability of the bungee. Gives you a little more mobility.

Here are pictures of the whole set up. I have a non-swinging arm. The hose does all the swinging / moving from a high mounting point.  Systainer /CT to set the saw on between cuts  which also automatically  gets the hose out of the way.  Hose moves freely for both cross cuts and rip cuts on the cutting table.

Then for sanding work and sometimes other tools  the hose goes through the bungee cord to support it off the bench.

The positioning of the hose mounting point in relation to the to benches allows it to reach 90% of the bench surfaces and the 10%  out of reach doesn't  pose a problem.
