Site seems to be slowing down again

Seems slow this morning again.  Just clicking on 'Unread' from the home page takes about 15 seconds to load...

Oh my...I think I'm back on my 1200 BAUD dial-up modem again.  The delay between a mouse click and something happening is just over a minute.  There were a few times when the response was fast, but lately, a glacier moves faster.
I wanted to post an update on my OF 1400 copy ring solution, but will check back in a few days to see if this site has improved.

Blame Elon Musk because he had directed all his satellite resources to something else!

Haha. Just kidding.

Are the sluggish responses the reason why we've been seeing a huge drop in the forum participation? Is a permanent fix difficult to do (e.g. by switching to a different internet service provider)?

If I were a betting man I'd say YES.

I have a bunch of stuff to add but it's just not worth the effort. Worse yet, is when I finally do decide to try to update with photos, some of the photos are added properly while other photos are lost  [eek] and some are just automatically turned into downloads only.  [eek] [eek]

Results like that kind of sap some of the enthusiasm.  [smile]

Just to let those know who might read this, I did notify Festool directly (not thru the Forum) around 7:15 this morning about issues and did receive confirmation that they were going to try and rectify the speed issue.

Thank you, Peter.  The site does seem normal now, but we've been through this many times.  I'll hold off for a few days before I participate again.

Well, that didn't last long.  The site is as slow as it was before, at least for me.

I will check in with Festool and see if they have had any luck.  Please hang in there.  I would venture a guess that the intermittent nature of the acceleration and then the slowing is a bit head scratching, but then I am not an IT person.

Festoo informed me last evening that they had been doing some work on the Forum and that it was working better for them but they wanted my experience.

How is the loading experience for you now (11/16/24 or later)?

The site seems to be normal for now.

I experienced a slow period that for the last few hours it has been quick.  Am I alone in still seeing speediness?

Peter

It comes & goes Peter... [huh]  It'll be normal for 10 minutes, slow down for 5 min, then normal again for 15 minutes before it slows down for 45 minutes. It's really catch-as-catch-can.  [eek]

A couple of days ago it was absolutely horrible so I walked away for most of the day, then around 5:00 I checked back in and it was completely normal or maybe even faster than normal.  [cool]  I decided to catch up and read the threads and about 40 minutes later it suddenly became worse than in the morning so I walked away again until 9:00 when it became just barely manageable.

It is slow today for me, way worse last night. It caused a double-post. I tried to do it last night, but it wouldn't go through, so I left it. The today, when I came back, it was still sitting there apparently still not posted. I clicked it again and it did go after a bit of a delay, which resulted in a duplicate.

Zzzzz....so sleepy waiting on a page to load.  I suspected the claims of normal loading speeds would be too good to be true.  The time between mouse click and screen change is anywhere between 15 and 45 seconds.

I will let Festool know about the widely varying speed issue.  For instance I had no problems yesterday afternoon, evening, or today yet others are.

Peter

The site was down for the better part of the day today.

Now that it seems to be back up and running, it also seems to be running rather than walking or crawling.

I'm hoping that's a sign that something needed to be done in the server side to repair a database or something similar, requiring unanticipated downtime but also kicking the problems to the curb for a while.

[popcorn]

Yes, Festool took the forum down yesterday to perform major maintenance.  They did send me a notification but I was busy and didn't see it until after the site was down so I couldn't give a heads up.  OOPS.
