That‘s a great idea!  [eek]  [eek]  [big grin] [big grin]

My cigar supplier had a service were they would let you design personal cigar bands, and they put them on stogies for you. Mainly on their own line of cigars, but anything was possible ...

I used their service in the past for gifts.

But since smoking is such a no-no nowadays ... This isn‘t available anymore afaik. Would be cool, good stogies with Festool band in a limited edition Mini-Systainer w/ corresponding inlay.

Kind regards,
Oliver

So it cooled down significantly, so it was the perfect time to do some maintenance on the sunshade's foot.

Let's start by disassembling the foot and breaking rusted fasteners loose.

36156737xb.jpg

Once they are free, there's really nothing nicer than a box end ratcheting wrench.

36156738ap.jpg

Time to sand all that rust off. Did I mention before I love the Festool Granat sanding sponges? I do.

36156740hy.jpg

A little closer.

36156741vf.jpg

Show me that sponge!

36156742sc.jpg

Then it's time to paint it. I'm using a big portion of the left over paint from my canopy repair. This paint is good for wood and metal. And using left overs is always great, so less will end up being trashed at some point.

36156743jb.jpg

Time to re-assemble. First with my trusty T-ratchet. New bolts and washers.

36156745vi.jpg

Then applying final torque with a ratchet.

36156746wc.jpg

And done.

Man your are a busy guy.

Doncha have a wife to do that sort of work? [big grin]

We're both very busy, so that's not an option  [scared] [eek] [big grin]

Honestly, I'm (mostly) at peace doing all this stuff. :)

Kind regards,
Oliver

Great stuff Oliver, you seem like a chap who is most relaxed when busy!  ;)
I’m much the same, and can’t sit around for too long  [thumbs up]

Build a prototype cage, for a little underwater pump used in a decorative well/fountain in the backyard. If this works out (reducing times I have to clean the pump), I'm going to make a nice version of it.

Hi Oliver,

Did I saw a "Brennenstuhl Garant" power reel on one of the pictures (couldn't find it back) ? Looking myself for one, but can't decide between all the different models [blink]. For sure a IP44. Would a appreciate if you can tell me how you like it and which model you have [tongue]

Much Obliged!

Rog.

Nice projects, as always Oliver! :)
Thanks for sharing.

@threesixright
If don’t mind me chiming in, I have a Brennenstuhl 1218900
I especially like the “Bretec” feature that allows the plug boxes to remain static, while you wind the cable...

Overall build quality is excellent in my opinion and I would buy it again, if lost or damaged. :)

Hi Rog.

Sorry for my late reply, I was running errands all day and had to get something done for my Dad later - so I only read your question on my mobile. But I need a real keyboard for my answer to your question - and it's probably going to be a lengthy one.

First of all, I'm sorry - but I have to totally disagree with [member=63474]grobkuschelig[/member] . (I'm really sorry!)

If you are referring to this:

This is indeed a pretty simple Garant with 3x1,5 mm2 supply, Bremaxx type cable, 3 sockets, & thermal protection. Pretty much like this, but 25m ->https://www.brennenstuhl.com/en-DE/...t-ip44-cable-reel-15m-at-n05v3v3-f-3g1.5-blue

It's IP44, Made in Germany ... and all that.

I bought this locally because I needed it - and I hate it.

Let's start with the least obvious, the ergonomic handle with additional axis ("Cable pilot"). While it is basically a great idea to run the cable over an additional axis before it goes on the actual reel, this worked for 3 or 4 times, now the handle is loose and when I reel it up and try to steer the cable over that axis, the whole handle travels off the steel pipe.

The Bremaxx cable is supposed to be super tough and robust, it isn't. It scuffs and marks easily, I wouldn't be caught dead with something like this on an actual construction site. My mistake was not realizing that Bremaxx (N05V3V3-F 3G1.5) is not a real substitute for H07RN-F 3G1,5. Bremaxx is PVC-type  and not rubber like H07RN-F ...

So I would make sure, if you buy Brennenstuhl, to get a cable reel with H07RN-F cable on it. Like this:https://www.brennenstuhl.com/en-DE/...l-for-site-und-professional-40m-h07rn-f-3g1-5

Personally I've been disappointed with Brennenstuhl's quality more than with any other brand, another mistake was buying their PRCD (before I got the real PRCD-S from Kopp)

The only product from them I'm actually satisfied with is a table top outlet:https://www.brennenstuhl.com/en-DE/...desktop-power-2-way-silver-1-8m-h05vv-f-3g1-5

My Garant is sitting in the basement collecting dust, waiting for that moment I absolutely need it - since I have the SYS-PH.

I bought a SYS-Powerhub almost immediately after they were released, it has a really high quality (Nexans) H07RN-F supply cable, 4 outlets on the outside, an additional outlet on the inside ... My Kopp PRCD-S (Pecso; H07RN-F) fits inside. I couldn't be any happier and would buy another one of these immediately. It's my go to "cable reel" whenever I need one. And it doesn't wear and tear like my Brennenstuhl Garant.

36170497dy.jpg

I checked out the Brennenstuhl cable reel [member=63474]grobkuschelig[/member] has:https://www.brennenstuhl.com/index.php?module=shop_articles&index[shop_articles][action]=details&index[shop_articles][data][shop_articles_id]=1292&token=FVIiwZtDs7

It definitely has the better supply cable when compared to my Garant. I don't like "Bretec" just another thing that can break, and I'm notorious when it comes to unwinding cable reels completely anyway. So no use to me.

I guess one can argument back and forth about Brennenstuhl, Bremaxx and Bretec - I personally just wouldn't buy it again. Their household stuff, like the table top thingy, I'd buy again.

I consider Brennenstuhl to be more of a "home owner" brand than a supplier for trade and industry. It's the go to brand for nearly every "home depot" style big box store around here, and I guess their top seller is this:https://www.brennenstuhl.com/en-DE/...p44-garden-cable-reel-48-2m-at-n05v3v3-f3g1-5 Because you can use it to supply the lawn mower and other electric yard tools - and yet have a cable reel.

However, if I ever need another cable reel beside my SYS-PH, I know where I'll be shopping:https://www.schill.de/productfinder/products/groups.html?option=Handcraft&lang=en&l=1

Schill, for example, lists max. consumption for reeled/unreeled. If that is important to you.

Sorry to be not more positive on this.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Thanks Oliver for you lengthy reply (and review) [thumbs up]! Yeah that was the picture I couldn't find [embarassed]

Didn't pull the trigger yet so I will have an another look. H07RN-F is a good point, I did saw a few reels have it. Will also check out schill.

Don't need to be sorry, very happy with some honest review!  ;)

So as I mentioned earlier, my Dad asked me to help with something. He works at a local roman museum from time to time since he retired, he guides tours  both for adults and children. When children visit with their class/school there are some activities. For one of them they need little wooden sticks: Pointy on one end (they do this with pencil sharpeners themselves) and a flat "blade" on the other end, this is too much of a hassle to hand sand with 25 to 30 kids, so they need to be prepared. Then these "pens" are used to carve into wax. They also need to glue up a little wooden frame and onto a small board in which the wax is poured.

Obviously modernized, it's meant to resemble the roman notepad used for personal notes/ in school.

->http://jaysromanhistory.com/romeweb/writers/art2.htm

So my Dad is really busy this week at the museum, they don't have enough time to prepare in between visiting school classes - and asked me if I would prepare some.

So I got out an old vertical drill stand, an likewise old drill and an abrasive wheel ... After realizing how much dust this creates I immediately went for my dust mask ...

I always find your "tackle anything" attitude and tireless work ethic are an inspiration Oliver.

Do you use all of these skills and experiences (and tools) in your "day job"? Or is all this a respite from "work"?

Either way, it's always interesting to see what you are up to, and you seem to enjoy it - which is the battle half won!

Thank you very much! :)

It's all a hobby, centered around my love for high quality tools, working with my hands and being self-dependent to a large part.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Hey Oliver, you made me reconsider my extension reel  [laughing]

Now looking at a SYS-PH [blink] and a separate H07RN-F extension 50m cable. Since it's (the long length) is only for in the garden, the 10m cable of PH will be fine around the house.

Now within the EU there are (apparently) multiple versions of the PH. I'm guessing because of the socket types (F and E).

Would you be able to snap 2 pictures, one of the socket (cover open) and one of the plug? I tried looking online, but all I found the covers are closed and unknown which model it is? FT is also not truly chatty about the differences. I looked them up in EKAT, and some don't even exist :/  I guess you have SYS-PH #200231 (not a clue why I think that)?

That (again) would be very helpful  :-[

Thanks!

Sorry, maybe I should have put this in a separate thread  :-\?

I'll go take some pics, no problem. :)

I'm totally fine with your questions/requests in this thread! :) But you probably would have gotten more answers - to the initial questions about Brennenstuhl - in a separate thread. ;)

I'm on my way to take pictures. :)

Kind regards,
Oliver

Here are your pictures. It's a type F. :) So #200231 should be right.
