Sketchup - Creating guides and multiplying/dividing

For some odd reason, I no longer can create a guide, move/copy it, and then type "divide" or "multiply" to create evenly spaced guides. I've done it in the past, but not sure why this function doesn't work. I have the newest version of Sketchup.

Anyone else experience this?

I haven't come across it, but I tend to not use guidelines anyway.

Instead of typing 'divide' or 'multiply', have you tried doing it the same as copy/array function, i.e. typing 'x2' or '/2'? Hope that makes sense.

Trying this from memory...  So I will have to check and edit, but I think this is accurate...

Guides may be attached to components which make them non editable unless the component is open.  All depends on what element you were working on when then were created.

To create a guide on a Mac, use the ruler tool and option click on a line to pull it across as a guide.  To copy a guide, use the move tool to select an existing guide, but option click to create a copy.  To delete, use the eraser tool.  To create multiple spaced guides, use move tool and then try *4 or whatever.

Hope that helps.

I am a 'One Week Wonder' veteran of SketchUp, so take what I say with a grain of salt (unless you have heart problems :-) but I did what you are asking about several times yesterday. I have a bunch of cabinets I got for a good price a couple years ago, so I needed to arrange them as best I could. I used guidelines to create a grid to snap them to while I was experimenting with the layout.

First, here is a shot of where I used the divide function (/x) to great advantage:

I had already deleted the guidelines, but here's the wall I was working on:

(BTW, the appliances are all models I downloaded from the warehouse, as I don't know anything about doing surfaces yet.)

Anyway, I hope that helps?

Thanks all! As it turns out, restarting my mac seemed to clear everything up. Go figure.

Correct on the earlier comment; all you need to do is create one guide, copy-move it to the new location, then type "/5" or "5x" for even spacing. Brilliant.

That is a handy feature.
