My wife bought a round couch for our living room and has been complaining she didn't have anywhere to put down her coffee. She didn't like any of the tables she saw online but did like a table top. So she bought it and sent me to the workshop with a job. I bought a 8/4 white oak board from my local supplier and got to work. This was more of an organic process rather than starting with a design first.

I reused a template I made for our coffee table I finished at Christmas.

After trying out 4 legs we decided 3 legs would look better. We decided on half lap joints that intersect and overlapped to create a triangle. I tried my and at cutting these with just hand tools. The glue up was a bit tricky but I ended up finding some offcuts that were the correct triangle and I made a jig with a few scraps.

The joints turned out a bit messier than I would have liked but you don't actually see it when the table top is installed. My wife is very happy with how it turned out though, so that's all that matters.
