Snappy now has a Centrotec shank bit holder for standard ball detent bits

Adding to their really great lineup of tools, Snappy is offering a bit holder with a Centrotec shank.  They don't have the packaging yet but you can call them and order one for $24.99.  You can load it in your Fastfix Centrotec chuck.  It's a true ball detent holder.  I've used it for over a week now and it works very well.  It adds length which may be problematic.  Naturally there's some wobble but it's manageable. 



I don't own any Centrotec bits so I just leave my Snappy holder in my Centrotec chuck.  That makes it fast and easy.

Good find!!!  This will work great for bits that are not made to fit in the centrotec chuck.  Im going to get one to use with spade bits.

Not that the Snappy one is not great - I have several of the Snappy Centrotec bits and they are great.

I have been using the trend snappy bit holder with the original larger shank in the jacobs chuck on my pdc for a while. I use it mainly for hex shanked masonary drill bits in the hammer mode. Works well and withstands the hammer action. As I have converted wera bit holders to fit the centrotec I was contemplating grinding the snappy bit holders shank to a hexshank that would fit the centrotec. Now no need to as I can get this for using my pdc in hammer mode with masonary bits.

Some bits are not offered in wire detent.

I can't agree that there's no reason.  From my perspective there's not just good reason, but compelling reason to have this compatibility.  Every other manufacture accommodates the standard ball detent bit.

Why Festool doesn't already have a Wiha Centrofix with their name on it and a Centrotec shaft is beyond me.  Actually, the older RapidFix would be preferable if there's a genie reading this.  [big grin]

Do you know the what the  difference between the rapid fix and centrofix are? Do they both allow one handed bit changes? I would have bought the centrofix if they made it with a longer hex shank as I would have then reground it to match the centrotec shank.  Instead I converted two wera rapidaptor bot holders and they in my opinion are the best bit holders out there, true one handed operation.
