Excuse me for adding on to another topic but this is essentially the same discussion with a change of substrate. I am working on a project for myself which I would like to have become one of my best and most beautiful pieces. It it a large tool cabinet for my shop made from solid mahogany with a lot of hand work. There are no metal fasteners and the all parts of all the drawers are being made with hand tools with the exception of initial parts cutting on the table saw. All dovetails are hand cut but the heavy-duty mortise and tenon work is all dominos.
There will be some non-movable shelves made of high-quality mahogany veneer plywood that is a full 3/4 thick. On the front there will be fairly thick banding of at least two inches of repurposed fairly dense old mahogany salvaged from beams somewhere.
What is the best approach to attaching the banding? Although I have a plate joiner in a box gathering dust somewhere, one preference is to use the Domino with 4mm or 5mm domino tenons.
The other choice fits with the suggestions of ccarrolladams and Dovetail65 and would be the use of a "tongue and groove 60 degree" edge banding router bit set as in:

and

Do you have a suggestion as to which approach would be better?
Thanks in advance,
Gary
