I'm sure all sortainer users can express sympathy with me on this one.

When the drawers are in the closed position, there is a lot of open space for bits to jump around, migrate compartments and change position so that you cannot open your drawer.

After you load up your drawers and go for a bouncy ride in your truck then attempt to access your contents you are forced to shake the heck out of each drawer to settle things down so you can actually get at them.  Or you end up having to pry the levels apart and slide a feeler gauge in the top of the drawer to knock things around.  This on a few occasions has been a major PITA.  Under-filling drawers helps alot, but a sortainer is not space-efficient storage to begin with and filling drawers to 1/2 their capacity is very inefficient.

So how do we fix this?

Easy, take the drawers out of your sortainer, look in the slot and look at the top, there is an ABS lattice with big wide open compartments above the drawers.  If this were solid then we be able to fill out drawers and never have to worry about not being able to open them later.

I have that issue, I use a bigger hammer. [big grin]

I moved all the little bits an pieces to a sys box.

That is stupit  [doh] the proper method is to just yank it open (everything is then sprayed accross the room). [eek] [eek]

I have 4 full sysboxes of bits and pieces already but the drawers are necessary for efficiency.

Yesterday I was standing on a 2-step ladder trimming out a rack, directly behind me was a stack of 6 systainers with 2 sortainers on-top, then my Veto on the top of the stack.  I had instant access to tools and every connector I would require.  Life was good until my drawer of RJ45 jacks got jammed and it took me what felt like an eternity to get it out.

Trust me on this one Craig, I do tear em out and have stuff fly up at me sometimes but this one was JAMMED, and its not the first time it happened.  I ended up prying the top up to give me some working room, then used the back of a zip tie to remove the obstruction.

I'm actually thinking of putting tape across or filling the gaps with foam.
