I use folding rules a lot, both on the job site and in the shop.  I am looking for metric folding rules that have a sliding depth gauge.  Wiha makes nice tools and I will buy this one:

But, if I can find metric with the sliding depth gauge, it would be even better.

In case my terminology is different from what others use...this inlaid brass strip in the center of the rule is what I would like to find on a metric rule:

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

If ever you find one please let me know.  I was told by a colleague here in France that they didn't exist because they didn't conform to French regulations for accuracy or some such ####.  They are very useful - and as my metric folding rule doesn't have the option, I never really use it.

Richard, I will let you know if anything comes from this.

I posted on another wood working forum, so hopefully something will come up.  I've spent a lot of time googling the internet and haven't found anything, so I am thinking the tool might not be available.  We'll see...

Rob:

The Fisco folding rules, of which we spoke, don't have the slider. They are both 1 meter long. I haven't loaded them on my website yet but I have one of each of them on my desk.

They appear to be pretty good quality. They are made in Sweden, have imperial on one side and metric on the other, and are predominantly nylon but have brass hinges. My old folding rules are wood with brass hinges, caps, and sliders. These also fold differently.
