EDIT:  March 14, 2010 - We have just learned that the storage tops are not available in the blue color.  PM's have been sent to those who have sent PM's expressing interest.  Sorry for the bad news.

Edited:  March 8, 2010  The poll has been edited to allow members to select a quantity that they might be interested in.  If you have voted previously and did not have this option available when you voted previously, you can change your vote to reflect the quantity you might be interested in purchasing if the price is right for you.

If you voted prior and want to indicate how many you might be interested in buying, and you are currently seeing the results, please select the remove vote button and then enter your new selections.  At that time also remember to reselect the region choice.

If you want more than 5, you can select multiple boxes until you get the total that you want - up to a total of 15.

At the request of some members I have been in contact with the Tanos representative here in North America.  He contacted me within 3 minutes of my email.  We talked on the phone about the possibility of a special edition dark blue systainer to be offered in all sizes with the lime green latches.

The lime green latches are exclusive to Festool worldwide and he will have to check to see if that is possible.  Really custom systainers are possible but the cost changes accordingly.

Logos are expensive and would of course require a group run.  With different members requiring different sizes that isn't going to happen.  We'll work on that in a different thread.

I ask you to trust me to investigate this for you.  I am not being compensated for this.  As a group, Franck was intrigued, and if the interest is there we might be able to do better on pricing.  I only ask that you give me some time.  Remember, I still have to work and put food on the table.  I will report back once we see what kind of interest there is.

14 DAYS FROM NOW I WILL TAKE THE DATA AND SUBMIT IT.

Then we will go from there.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Vote once for each systainer you think you might want.

If you think you want 5 then vote 5 times.  This will keep it simple.

I can then go to Tanos and say " I have potential interest in xxx number of systainers in various sizes.  Based on that, how can we arrange to set up a special program with a dealer and si there special pricing that can be arranged?"

Peter

I'll ask the stupid question, how do you vote more than once?  And you might want to allow people to remove/change votes, in case anything changes.

Multiple voting has been corrected.  Members should be able to edit their votes.

Sorry.  The Forum software timed on me while I was trying to post, and of course all my settings were forgotten.

If I ever do a poll again, I'll remember to inspect every box.

All I can do is select interest. Is there supposed to be a way to pick the type of Systainer? Don't see any options.

All we are looking for at this point is interest.  If there is an interest for 2 systainers, then...  But if there is an interest in 150 then...................  No commitments at this point.

Hope that this helps.

Peter, where is the poll that one uses to vote for the preferred size(s) of systainer?

Peter,

I may be wrong on this, but I would venture that it would still be possible if the logo was limited to just the top of the systainer. Presumably the 50pcs minimum would be for the printing process - if we could reach 50pcs of varying sizes, then we would still require 50 lids, all of which would be identical. Then stickers could be added to the body of the systainer if required. That is assuming that everyone is happy with either the standard or 'attic' systainer*, and we don't want both (unless we can get to 50pcs of each!).

*as an aside, the tanos configurator doesn't give the option of having the attic lid. It may not be available...

I know it would mean increased cost to have the logo printed directly, but I think a 'special edition' deserves going the extra mile. If you only use stickers, then no matter how nice they are, it's still just a standard box with some nice stickers. [unsure]

I think this should be given serious consideration. If it isn't possible then fine, but I don't think it should be completely ruled out at this stage. Just my [2cents]

Johnny,

I am not ruling anything out.  Demand is higher at this point than I anticipated.  I believe that engraving of the latches might even be an option.  I suggest that we see how demand changes now that I have corrected my errors on the poll.  At this point there are many I don't knows.

Peter,
You are outstanding. [thumbs up]

By the way, I think Festool USA should pick up the tap for the logo's  This is clearly promotional of both Festool and their forum.

Craig,

When you say Festool should pickup the "Tap" was that a subconscious request for a Systainer that will hold beer?

By my reckoning, we're up to 93 systainers already, and this thread is less than 24 hours old!!!

I'd say this idea has some potential...

Great job.

But I have to 2nd Jonnys suggestion.

The idea has shown that interest is there. Next step is to find out who is serious by asking for pre-payment. Price can be adjusted as the final numbers come it. These type of ventures always suffer from the loss of momentum and people don't follow through to the buying stage. To keep the momentum I think the poll should only be for a few more days then start taking prepaid orders and let that run for a few weeks. I don't know if we can get a Festool dealer to be the one who sells of these things and to accept payment. I might be a big headache no one wants.

There has been much enthusiasm.  Here is what I can tell you based on a few minutes of time spent on this today.  Of course there is a US distributor for Tanos as well as a Canadian Distributor.  The dark blue systainers are a stock item in the US, but not in Canada.  Who knows how something like this can be arranged for the European or other country members?  I don't know yet.  It has been less than 24 hours for goodness sake.  And part of that time wasn't even during a normal work week.

I have spoken with the US distributor  / dealer for Tanos today.  He was informed when the count was 89.  Interest is definitely there.  He confirmed that the green latches are a Festool exclusive.  Yesterday I learned that the locking latches are only available on the blue latches - not the blue you want.  Printed logos are done in Germany.  There is setup time and costs, production costs and shipping costs.  And time.

The US distributor is a member here and I am sure that he will be checking in to check the progress.  I think that it would be appropriate to give these guys some time to consider what is going on, but I might be wrong.
