Spike TV's "Framework" Show features Jory Brigham and other furniture designers

It is raining outside so I am getting a late start and shifting my day's work.  Just watched my recorded version.  Interesting project - right Shane?  What did you do about your situation from months ago?  Maybe now you will build your own?

Bottom two were definitely correct.  Thought that someone else should have gone home.

Will be interesting in a day or two when [member=44289]JoryBrigham[/member] will visit and hopefully comment.

After seeing these shows I think that I want to learn how to weld.  Been on the horizon for a long time.  Maybe the horizon is closer.

Ha, nothing yet.  [blink]

Thought about it, drew some stuff, and then did nothing. No time to make sawdust lately. But, the episode did make me think about it again. We'll see if that's enough motivation.  [tongue]

I've not watched Ellen's Design Challenge ep 5 or 6 yet, but something popped up in my news feed about plagiarism in the finale.

Watch out for it as it's got a massive spoiler in the picture with the news feed.

Peter,

My wife and I watch both this and Ellen's Design Challenge.  I told her the same thing.  I'd like to learn to weld.  A friend of mine is an incredible designer/engineer/machinist.  Has an incredible Haas machining center for CNC work.  He does a little bit of welding.  His comment, after years of doing this, is "I'm not a great welder, but I'm an excellent grinder."    [big grin]

Hey Jory, who brought all the festools?
I know you like em and Freddy, but was there a list of tools that everyone can ask for? Or do the contestants bring there own tools?
Chuck,

Festool was asked to be part of the show in a non-paid capacity, as many of the contestants like working with our tools.  We provided the tools for use by the contestants.
thanks Shane,
So answer this if you will, did they/you pick every item from the catalogue,or did the participants get to choose?
Festool is getting a lot of time on the show, but I think you have to know what your looking at to know what tool it is.
Thanks,chuck
so still curious about the tool selection.
Did you bring every item in the book,or just a select few?
Thanks,Chuck

Hey Chuck
SO heres the skinny on the tool list. From what I understood, Festool couldn't supply anything that was a big seller at ACE Hardware. For example, Festool could supply Domino's and track saws, but not impact drivers, drills because they sell makita. They had supplied us with Dewalt random orbitals. I had brought my own rotex and ETS 150, and as soon as I let the other contestants borrow them they couldn't go back to the dewalt. Production ended up ordering a bunch of ETS 125's. I'm not user if they just paid for them or not.

Gotta tell you guys... after all the hype on the show about getting your work in a CB2 showroom (who I had never heard of), I checked out their website and looked around at their offerings.  Not a thing impressed me. Where do they get this high and mighty reputation. Most of the stuff I saw on the site is pretty basic, and not very esthetic.

Maybe it's just me, but not impressed.  Jory and some of the other's work is wayyyy beyond CB2.

Glad Jory made it though...but he was in the middle of the pack, not at the bottom in the end.

Cheers,

Frank

Hey Frank! I will talk about this after the finale. As you could imagine none of the three of us, Jason, Freddy or myself know much, or even have ever paid much attention to mass production.

Hey Peter, Anything specific you were looking for me to comment on?

I know for me, after seeing how Jason was with the welding made me want to come home and spend a little more time on mine. I do basic welding, but tig welding has really caught my eye. Metal work sure can compliment wood great!

Thanks Jory, I figured once everybody used festtool they would love them.
Very cool behind-the-scenes look at it though thanks

Meh.  I am not a fan of 95% of this wood and metal furniture fad.  I don't like the machine base trend (actually really despise it and will buy stuff just to keep it away from those yuppie furniture people).

I also hate the factory cart coffee table crap.

Hopefully they won't renege on the winner like ellen did....

Tonight's the finale! Woot!

The final three contestants, including [member=44289]JoryBrigham[/member], team up with... wait for it... the eliminated contestants to build not one, but two pieces of furniture in 24 hours.

It all goes down tonight at 10/9C.

Well Shane did it to me again!  He magically knew I was posting.  Rats!  But not for much longer  [sad].

Just a reminder - new episode on tonight.  Down to three competitors.  Tonight former contestants come back to lend a hand.

It will be interesting to see how Jory manages his team. The last time he got a "hand" to help his project, it must have felt more like sabotage. The guy was slow, cut corners and did poor work.

I wasn't able to see how he "helped" Jory. He slowed him down and took the project backwards every time he touched it. The final collaboration was very far worse than if Jory did the entire project himself.

If he can manage his team on this last challenge, he should win. He has great talent, vision and work ethic.

GO JORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe he will send the less helpful team members on a mission to find a metric angle gauge.  [big grin]

You mean the kind that measures in radians?
