Splinter Guard not parallel to guide rail

Hello Guys.

I bot the TS55 to cut melamine boxes for some bathroom and kitchen cabinets.  I just got the materials delivered and will start the project soon.

I noticed the splinter guard is not parallel with the rail.  Obviously it was a Friday at the factory and the quality control folks wanted to get home for the weekend beer fest.  LOL

I flipped it over and I see about 12-15 inches of the splinter guard does not butt up to the rib on the underside.  This is causing the problem.  What is the best way to correct this problem?

Is the rail brand new?  If it is there needs to be a signifiant amount of overhang that you trim off at SLOW speed with your saw.  If it isn't sticking out far enough to trim, do 1 of 2 things:  Peel it off as appropriate and see if it will restick back down, or get a new splinter guard tape.  Being "parallel" certainly isn't critical.  Being out there far enough so it can be trimmed to match your saw blade is critical

Heat it with a hair dryer before you peel it off.  The adhesive will re-stick if you don't drop it in a pile of sawdust. [embarassed]

If it's the new clear gaurd just peel it off some and re-apply.  The clear ones don't stick near as well as the older style black ones.  All my new rails have had the same issue you're talking about.  Just pick it up and move it over.  I generally have to CA glue the ends of the strip to keep them from coming loose.

I did as you all suggested.  It appears that it stuck next to the rib.  I'll take that a success.
