Splinter-Guard Width TS75 Owners

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if fellow TS75 owners would mind measuring the width of their anti-splinter guard on their guide-rails -- the distance between the edge of the guide rail and the edge.  I bought a TS75 a little over a month ago and it was cutting extremely close to the guide rail.  I tried making the adjustment to move the blade out and when I did, two of the hinge-block screws would not tighten.  I returned the saw and got another new one.  I cut the strip today and it is still cutting close (about 1/16th of an inch).  Since Festool does not have a spec on this width, I was wondering if current owners would mind measuring their width so that I know whether or not 1/16th is normal or acceptable tolerance.  I am not trying to be overly picky about this as long as it does not cut the rail, but my concern with it being so close is that if I switch to a Panther blade, for example, I will be getting even closer.  I hesitate to make the adjustment again on this saw in case it has the same issue as my original one and I do not want to mess with anything if 1/16th is acceptable.

I appreciate your help and comments.

I got a 1/16 as well.  You don't want it too far out as it could possibly flex.  I replaced the black strip with the new clear one.  Much better, IMO.  Thicker and easier to see your marks.

mine is also a 1/16 and I also replaced with the clear strip and it is thicker..  if you just bought the saw then the rail might have the clear strip.

as long as you of 1/16th away that is fine.  don't worry about the guide rail. it will be fine until one day the saw will jump back and cut the rail a bit!  just make sure when you fire it up that it is in place and set, and that should not happen.  but sh?t happens.

enjoy the saw.

I'm at 1/16 as well, except for the place I didn't have the saw fully seated when I plunged; that's almost 1/8th...

I was really mad at myself for slicing that guard rail edge, but it helps to know I'm not alone. It'd even help me more to know I was in the majority ;)

BTW, anyone else tried to use their TS-75 to cut lexan? I recommend against it; they use it as bullet proof glass for a reason.

I have a couple of idiot marks on my guiderail too.  Started it up before I had it firmly on the rail.  oh well...

Thanks for your replies.  I feel better about 1/16th width -- it sounds like that is the factory set for the guide-rail strip matched to this saw.  I think that the 55 might be a little wider.
