Split top slab bench

The design doesn't rock my world but that doesn't diminish my appreciation of the craftsmanship that went into it. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed watching.

Hi Paul, I personally do like the design but it wasn't my own design. It was the customers wish. They've sent me some, ahum, high quality images of their (store bought) headboard and wanted me to incorporate a similar design into the bench.

Thanks Charlie!

Thanks Charlie!

Yea, noticed your earlier comment that the design concept was the clients. You did a great job interpreting that into the table. And again, as for your craftsmanship... [not worthy]

Finally got round to seeing the entire vid, very cool. Great design interpretation (always a tricky thing) project execution and a sweet video to boot! My hat is off to you Mauri.  [big grin]
Thanks for taking the time to post it up here for us to drool over  ;D

Rob.

Thanks Rob and Steve and everyone commenting. It gave me a great boost! Tomorrow morning it's back to the shop for yet the start of a new project and I might try and make some video on that. I'm liking it and learn something new every time  [laughing]

Kind regards

Mauri,
In your next video, can we have a mis-cut or a joint not come together. But still to nice music. Some cursing would be good. I would feel much less inferior then. Thanks!

Your bench is in a totally different league...maybe the client will ask that you redo the headboard to match the bench.

Yes very impressive.
Like  something  David Marks  would be doing.

I have the  Axcaliber Milling Cutter  which  is about 31mm  in diameter.

That would be nice! I obviously did my best to overrule their headboard in design and I had the Bubinga at hand and definitely didn't want to use a glulam board. Thanks!

Looked up the router cutter you referring too. I would be confident to use that cutter in a of1400 or similar sized/ power router for flattening boards when necessary. But of course, always take great care when doing this kind of action, taking light passes, observing defects in your board, observation of the wood/ specie to be cut etc before flattening. I don't think I would do any climb-cutting with the of1400 and a decently sized cutter though. It wouldn't be the first time it runs away with me instead of me with the 1400, luckily never with serious consequences  [smile] Our tools are no toys but I know I don't have to express that here at fog, right?
