I have used the spray foam cans in the past to insulate and seal.  One of my aggravations has always been that I never use all the can.  Using it for small jobs is wasteful.  I have purchased the contractor guns that hold the separate canisters, but that resulted in more wasted money.

Here is a link to a tip that might work for you:  How to save spray foam for a later usage

I have not tried this.

Thanks Peter.  Over the years, I have probably wasted about ten part cans of spray faom.  I will definately be giving this a try

If it works out we can say thank you to China for bamboo skewers!  [scared]

I really like the Pur Stick ( todol.com).  I use the sub floor adhesive for just about everything.  Gluing, sealing, filling, etc.

It has completely replaced construction adhesive ( liquid nails, etc) for me.

Best feature, besides good holding power?    The gun does not drip or ooze A DROP after releasing the trigger.  Most important when working in finished homes as I do.  Great shelf life also, I've heard from comrades.

100% agree Dan.

The guns are cheap compared to how much $$$ you will save on wasted cans of foam.

The foam urethane adhesives are awesome and I use them on everything.

The only thing you have to do is buy cleaner and clean the gun when you take the canister off.

All cans work with all guns now don't they?

Gave up on saving those cans a while ago. I always felt that for the time spent trying to reuse one I could buy 3.

I am a big fan of the rods the insulation guys use for suspending fiberglass insulation. I use them for all kinds of stupid stuff. I shall add this to the list They are about 15" long and dirt cheap. I will see if i can find a link.

There is 2 easier ways
1  turn the can upright and blow a bit of propellent out.  then when you come back to use it the expanded foam can be pushed out with what is ever handy,  if you are using more than one can use only one nozle and save the new ones.

2 Use a HILTI CF-D kit  [thumbs up]
Hilti CF-D case and gun

The Hilti is way to expensive for what it is.  My mate has the hilti gun and I dont see anything special about it

I have always used Fisher Foam guns which cost about 20 quid and always lasted me at least a year  (my own fault because I broke it 1)Stood on one 2)droped a worktop on another 3)something in my van broke it)

I found this foam gun (UK)
http://www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk/Products/Sealants_and_Adhesives/Foam_and_Fillers/11690/Heavy_Duty_Foam_Gun

?11.45 GBP including Vat

This has been the best gun I have ever used its covered in Teflon which is brilliant  when the foam has dryed out around the end of the gun you then just pull the foam of with your hands and it looks brand new again!   ALSO its the cheapest professional gun I have found!

All the foam guns I had before I had to use a stanley knife to clean the end of but no more with this gun.

Also another thing you dont need is FOAM gun CLEANEER (unless you accidently got foam somewhere you didnt want foam)  as long as you turn the gun valve off at the back every time your not going to use it for a while it will be fine.

Also as long as you leave the Foam can on the gun even if empty  until you get a new Can to replace it STRAIGHT away you will be fine.

Only if you wanted to remove the foam can then you need the use Cleaner to clean the gun.

I have used the foam guns for 6 years and never had a problem. Not using a foam cleaner.

All I do is go to my van use the gun turn the gun of put it back into my van !simples!
