I know that some of you are trying to make the jump to all metric in your shop. I just noticed that Harry Epstein's in Kansas City has gotten in some metric two piece, three piece and four piece combination squares. These are made in the US by Product Engineering. These are what they call "cosmetic blems", so there may be a scuff of a something in the finish  but never anything in the etchings or in what would compromise the integrity of the tool. For the stuff that I have bought I can't really see any problems and they are dead on. The savings are very good.  4 piece is 57.50, 3 piece is 36.00 and the 2 piece is 24.00

Here is a link to the squares section:

I'm also very fond of this 4 inch double square for $15

They also have a good selection of Norseman drill bits should you be in the market for non-Centrotec stuff.

Harry Epstein's website is a wonderful place to spend a few minutes and some dollars:

Thanks for the link to that site - lots of good stuff there.

If you need the 4" Double Square in metric, this eBay seller has a similar blem for a bit more money.  I purchased some blemished rules in metric and imperial from them some time ago and they were very good.

I was going to buy a square but.......very.....slow.....page.......
I gave up.  I'll try again some other time.

HJE rules.  They'll paint/draw artwork of your request onto their packages if you mention it in the comment/note section.

The PEC combination squares....
I think they feel better in hand than Starret, but their locking mechanism
loosened up really quick on the ones I've owned.

FWIW...the Mitutoyo combination squares also loosen easily. That's the reason I gave the two I had to my neighbor who's also interested in motorcycles and probably only uses them 2-3 times a year to check motorcycle alignment. The Starrett's just work so well. [thumbs up]

Guess who makes/made the Mitutoyo combination squares?  Guess.  Guess.  Did you guess PEC?  [big grin]
