I will be purchasing the MFT-3 in the next couple weeks and I was wondering for those that have the cross members, how are they really doing in terms of stability?

The rods make a big difference in terms of stability.  For a really solid surface, I use two MFT tables with the connector rods to provide a longer and very stable support.  I still have the support rods on each.  I think they are worth using.

The MFT is pretty good as it sits for a lot of work. I wasn't going to buy the cross members figuring they were just another money gimmick. After seeing the difference on an MFT in Lebanon that had the cross members installed, I ordered a pair. I would recommend them.

I found the table pretty wobbly with out them , I think they should have been included for a "work bench" at the price it is ...

I found the Mft 3 a little too wobbly.A thread a while back showed the MFT attached to a wall using scrap lumber. Itried it an there is no looking back.

Hi,
I agree with Tom. They really are useful in providing a more stable platform especially with the long direction movement. Despite the price, I would not hesitate to purchase them again for my MFT/3. Overall, the MFT/3 is a great bench when used with Festool equipment and really should be the 2nd Festool accessory you buy (after a dust extractor).
Good luck with your purchase!

I have to ask, is the MFT/3 less stable than the MFT/1080? I have the latter and I've never felt the need for stabilizing rods. Maybe if I'd clamp the table to the ground, but normally the whole table moves before I feel the legs moving.

I had my MFT3 for a long time before I got the stabilizers, and I'm glad I finally picked them up.  I saw them at a demo I attended at one of the Festool Dealers, and could see the difference in stability.  Still not as rock solid as a workbench, but much improved.
