Stain and antique oil issues

Using Varathane and antique oil and I have fingerprints on the finished piece. I’m confident it isn’t glue and I wore latex gloves. I know I wiped the piece down really well. I assume I’ll sand and go again tomorrow. Where’d I make my mistake? The gloves?  This isn’t my first rodeo. And can I add the stain to the oil to darken the clearcoat?

Looks like you had some glue residue on the wood that prevented the pigment in the finish from being absorbed into the wood.

I don't know about adding pigment to either of those products (not saying you can't) but I will note that Minwax "Antique Oil" finish is more of a varnish than an oil. It is formulated to make application by wiping easier than a straight varnish would be. Personally I think it's superseded by Minwax Wipe-On Poly.

As far as recovering from the blemishes you might try just sanding those areas lightly (the light spots) then adding stain and finish being careful to wipe away the surplus from the surrounding area.

Nitrile gloves, no powder.

Straight line sand those areas with 180, hit them with a little water, sand 180. See how it takes the stain.

Correct Tom nitrile no powder and quartersawn RO.  I absolutely agree I would’ve said glue. I just have trouble with that simply because of how particular I was and how sparingly I used glue. And there’s more than one spot. Thanks for all the help I do appreciate it. I suppose it’s one of those deal with it moments that’ll be all the better when finished.

I don't think it's glue, but it doesn't really matter.
If you have sealed this already you will need to sand the area and try to pad in some stain.
If not, I would use a touch up brush with some acetone and clean the spot and then see if the stain takes.
If not, paint the tone in with some small Brush tip marker
