I have a little kitchen remodel project that is going to require me to match the finish on some 1990 kitchen cabinets. I'm the second owner of the house, and the original owner has passed on. I need to re-cut one set of doors and make another, and I need them all to match what's already there.

I've never been much for "re-" projects, preferring to build something from the ground up, but I have no intentions of spending the time or money for a complete new kitchen right now.

Anyone have any tips for color and texture matching?

What I have so far is it is red oak, the color is what I would call a medium to light brown stain and the finish is not very glossy or very thick.

Any guidance is much appreciated.

take a sample to a good paint store and they should be able to give you a good stain match
