On a stringer that is 300 x 70mm and is step notched for every tread, the stringer loses depth and strength.
If I keep the tread forward the notch is smaller thus retaining more stringer strength.
The tread is 45mm redwood and was thinking 20mm and that leaves the stringer about 160mm deep.
Im thinking I can push it forward 50mm and thus increase the sringer depth more.
Would 45mm Redwood trample off and break? That is the question.
