Storing MFT top on wall

I'm wanting to store an MFT-style top on a wall.  It's made of 3/4 inch plywood, and it's just the top (no sides, track, etc., so it is only 3/4 inches thick).

I envision it resting on a ledge with a lip on it (not far off the floor) and being secured it to the wall with some clip, clamp, or knob higher up.  The ledge is easy enough to make out of scrap.

For the upper part that secures it to the wall, I was thinking of:
  • some sort of rotating clips/clamps on both sides that could be spun out of the way to release it, or
  • a screw knob or similar that goes through the dog holes into the wall.

Both have their downsides - the screw knob requires dog holes be lined up in a specific spot, and the clips on the sides make it width-specific, such that if I make another, differently-sized top, I'll have to redo them.

Has anybody done something similar or have any ideas for the pieces that secure it to the wall?

One solution in my old shop was to use two 3/4" dowels glued into a 2x4 that was screwed to the wall. This setup can hold both a MTF and just the tops. If the dowels are long enough you can stack multiple tops onto the dowels. Just make sure the dowels are slightly undersized and spaced appropriately. A second piece of 2x4 or 2x2 attached to the wall a meter below the 2x4 with the dowels will insure the tops hang straight down.

For such securing, the easiest is is a gravitational piece of wood freely hanging on a long thick screw in the wall.

If you want it to not wobble - e.g. in a van - you can just have two of them and put a bit of fabric around the locking piece to create some friction pressure.

U shaped clips or ledge at bottom, flip down turnbuckle to secure top.
