Has anyone used Surfix on exterior projects? While I know this product has not been on the market very long, I am hoping that there is someone that has used this in a sunny location. I am building a front door (no protection from rain, sun and is a wooded lot)  for a long time customer using mahogany and have been asked to maintain the door in the upcoming years.

I've used the Surfix, it just doesn't have enough time on it to know what it's time frame is. Only 3 months of hard sun on it, so far really nice.

I may be using it again on pergola, depends on the how shocked they are by the cost.

If you have to maintain the, oil is a good choice.

Here is a thread at JLC about various exterior door finishes;

I just received my SurFix kit today. I plan on trying it out on an exterior door and an office desk. It will probably take me a while to get started on either one, which is no immediate help to you  [tongue]  I will be watching this thread for more info as well.

Thanks for the response to both of you, I plan on getting the kit for the door an will report back on my results.

I used it on my shed doors, which are clear fir full-light doors, and so far so good. The door faces north-east and has some cover. One bummer, which is not the fault of Surfix, is one of my guys cut steel near the door and the shavings oxidized on the door pretty quickly. Perhaps a product with more build up would have helped. The Surfix is easy to apply on flat surfaces so re applying on a door every couple of years shouldn't be too painful.
