I love the angled sides of the Sys lite for different light projection, but you don't always have a surface to put the light down on to use them. So, I made a simple L bracket that mounts the lite horizontally on a Camera Tripod instead of just using the lite vertically.  Aluminum flat bar, 1 1/2" wide by 1/4" thick.

I wanted a way of retaining the 1/4" threaded knob on the side of the bracket so I didn't loose it. So, I used the simple o-ring trick of bolt/screw retaining. The matching green was not planned, but does look good for some reason.  [wink]

Nice.  That would be a good way to make  a double light mount too!

yeah, that's job #2 now that this one is built.  Then I have an excuse to buy another Sys Lite...... [embarassed]

Does your tripod platform flip up 90 degrees? Mine does so If I want the camera/SysLite horizontal or at an angle, I just change the platform angle.

It does, but the small, cheap unit that I bought doesn't really inspire confidence that it will hold any angles or movement long term. So, with this bracket, I start off where I want the light in the first place, then angle it or rake the light as needed.  The plus side of my small Tripod is that fully folded, it will fit inside a Systainer if there's room.
