SYS-PowerHub

Don't really see the point in 240v in the uk...

There are lots of craftsmen, painters, decorators, joiners, carpenters, etc. that don't work on sites but predominantly in people's homes. Add that to the "enthusiastic amateurs" like me, and I think it's still a large market.

Of course that's not to say the lack of 110V options isn't a miss...

Anyone...just curious why 110v and transformers are required for on-site work in the UK?

I don't get this obsession about putting everything in matching boxes. What advantage does this thing have over a regular power strip except x10 the cost and x10 the size?

Keeps workshop and Van tidy.  You can rack everything to fit one size.

You could buy a sys 3 or 4 and buy 3 extension leads to put  it and still have change out of the £135.00

Im not denying that I was just answering Svar regarding why having everything in the same sizE boxes

Well it looks like Festool have answered the call, over the years there have been quite a lot home made versions floating about, some with excellent design detail and some just plain dangerous. I could see it being useful but not something I'd need.

I would agree but price seems to high to me.

An integrated 18v battery charger would've been pretty cool too. And an adapter to plug in CXS batteries.

I bet Festool loves all of us Monday morning quarterbacks.  [big grin]

Well, if they aren't going to listen to us, then what the heck are they doing...

Maybe it would be prudent to "leak" some of this new stuff before the production model is finalized, to get a fresh perspective. Someone who has nothing to gain financially from Festool, and who isn't a total Festool yes-man (apologies to anyone offended).

Perhaps not leak it publicly for all the innerwebs to see, but to a select few. I'm sure that's done already, but its probably to people that will love whatever is molded in dark blue and neon green.

They do already Mort. Me and a few other UK guys were asked a few questions and shown prototype ideas before the ts55 was upgraded. They wanted our opinions and what we would have changed. I'm no "Festool only" fan I do like other brands too so all they got from me were honest opinions. In return I got nothing but then I've picked up a few freebies over time from Festool so I can't grumble.

The pictures all appear to be of US or Euro plugs, what about square UK plugs or does it only allow Festool green plugs to be used??? What about the charger plugs for Syslites? Will they fit? I was thinking to finally buy a workcenter to go on my CTL36 and put a Syslite Duo and both my Syslites on it and plug them into a four bar extension lead, basically the same thing. It looks like a poorly thought out item, not enough space, a Sys 3 would have been better and more room inside for an extra cable length and usb outlet.

I have a ton of Systainers, even new a Sys 2 + 4 gang 10m plug fixed with (slide on) screws or velcro tape is less than £60.

A nice Tanos deep orange Sys 2 + Quality, fused orange rubber permaplug 4 gang with a wired cannibalised 10m plug it lead is less than £90 with no fitment issues. I can't see how they justify the price, like the Sysrock, its a lot of money for very little innovation.

Hi people,

well my sys power hub has to go back to Festool.
Had a phone call from Festool UK today, and all power hubs are being recalled due to a fault.

Being picked up tomorrow by Fed Ex.
No news when a replacement will be sent.

Cheers,

Mark.

Hi!

[member=21305]Norfolk Bean[/member]

Do you have any information if it's really ALL (world wide) SYS-PHs that are being recalled?

--

I e-mailed Festool yesterday but have yet to get a reply whats up with the 230V model - no offense against Festool here, they probably have a lot of inquiries like that since the word spread... No problem from my side.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Festool have told us the following information; The quality of our products and the satisfaction of our customers are paramount. During the development of products and post release we continue to undertake extensive testing and quality measures. When the quality of our products seems to be unsatisfactory, we immediately take measures to resolve the situation. As part of our regular product monitoring, we have identified that a part used in the SYS-PH module may not meet the required FESTOOL quality and may affect the IP rating of the product.

Don't think I was going to use this anywhere wet, so not too sure what the issue is?

All I was told was,  it was something to do with the IP rating. Don't know if it is worldwide, but definitely the UK version. Sorry can't be more help, but that was all I was told.
Festool UK were very vague, perhaps someone from Festool might like to throw a bit more light on the subject ?

Cheers,

Mark.

Hi!

I got a very nice reply from Festool Germany a couple of hours ago.

And it's indeed only the GB model that es being exchanged. I write exchanged because the e-mail I got was very specific on that as it is not considered a recall but an exchange.

I trust Festool, so I see this as a voluntary measure because of their uncompromising attachment to the safety and quality of their products - and I hope that those of you who have to have their SYS-PH's exchanged have a smooth experience all the way.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Hi
Please read the statement below. If you have any questions post them here.
Information by TTS Tooltechnic Systems (GB) Limited regarding “SYSTAINER PowerHub 240V

This is not a safety related recall.

After doing so we will contact you with the details of return. Our network of dealers have been notified of this issue and will assist you directly to obtain a refund. If you should have any problems with your return please contact us via info@festool.co.uk.

Please note: This only affects the UK version of the SYS-PH GB 240V (part no. 200234) - no other products are affected.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to assure our customers that no other products are affected. We expect that we will have a new production lot for UK available at your dealer as of July.
