SYS3 Foam Inserts

Could [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] or [member=68900]Systainer.Store[/member] help with my question?

[member=63201]RustE[/member] sorry for the delayed response, I had to wait for our guys to be back in the warehouse this morning to get a pic for you.

[member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] thanks for the picture. Do you know if item no. 204942 is also backwards compatible with the T-Loc systainers?

[member=63201]RustE[/member] the internals of the T-LOC vs Sys3 are slightly different. While you could probably use it in a TLOC, it would likely require some modification.

Thanks for asking [member=63201]RustE[/member]

Trying to add further information.

I believe I heard that Tanos is going to stop producing the soft pick and pluck foam and only produce the rigid pick and pluck foam.  If a foam fits a T-loc, it likely needs modification to fit a SYS3.  As [member=6555]Shane[/member] said if something works in SYS3, it may fit in the T-Loc, but may need some modifications.

My shop carries Systainer3 M size pick and pluck rigid.  Tanos 81200544
And I've got Systainer3 L size as well.  Tanos 81200538

Now, I know you didn't ask about this per se, but it feels relevant, is that foam that Shaper provides in their SYS-I.  It is a hard foam, and machines really well.  I've had a few customers ask for this and thus far I'm told it is unique to Shaper.  I'd love to see what kind of interest there is in the community as I think Tanos/Festool could/should carry it as Shaper, last I checked, doesn't sell it on its own.

[member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] thanks for the clarification. I'll order a set to try.

[member=68900]Systainer.Store[/member] my original post was partially because prices between the Festool part number and the Tanos part number are different. I also wanted to get some idea how, or if, Festool and Tanos would continue selling inserts for T-Loc systainers.

On the side topic of the Shaper foam: I haven't seen it myself. In pictures I found online, it appears to be a solid foam; which I like better than a layered Kaizen foam. There are some places on the west coast that sell USA-made polyethylene foam for equipment cases and tool boxes, but I don't know if they could custom-cut inserts for a systainer.

Had some time today for a few photos of the inserts that I received earlier this week.

Top: Tanos (10mm) base foam with cross cut, item no. 83000037, for SYS3.
Bottom: Tanos (5mm) base foam with cross cut, item no. 81200234, for T-Loc.

Top: Festool diced foam insert, item no. 204942, for SYS3.

Also took photos with a single piece of the Festool diced foam insert, item no. 204942, in the SYS3 and in the T-Loc. The diced foam insert is sitting on the raised grid at the bottom of each Systainer, and is a snug fit front-to-back. Note that if a second piece of diced foam was installed, it would need a clearance cut for the middle hinge of the SYS3 M 112. No cutting should be necessary for the T-Loc I

Hi, I have been doing some research into cutting my own base foams for t loc and sys3! This is in response to your post that had the picture of each generations cross cut foams, do you still have them? I would be interested in buying them and sending you a new cut piece if they are still in use for you!

Does that base foam with cross cut exist for the Sys3 L?

I verified with Tanos USA this morning, there isn't a cross cut out foam for Systainer3 L at this time.
