Luckily i do wood better than i do computers.
The insert is 9mm ply base with 6mm ply dividers, all painted gloss white.  Plenty of room for extra blades ect.  I positioned the multimaster as near the centre as possible to help with balance when carrying.  I coppied Jonny Round Boy & added a pig tail.  I also added the green plug it cord which is really nice to use.  Anyway, hopefully someone can take my ideas & improve on them for themself.  Nice to have the Multimaster "FESTOOLED"  [big grin]

I would like to convert some of my non-festool tool to the plug-it system.

I am thinking of putting my fein multimaster into a systainer. I am having trouble figuring out which one to get  sys1 or sys 2

i feel like there is so much waisted space in the sys2 but you have to use that if you want to use the tanos insert

i like the idea of keeping it as compact as possible in a sys1, if i went that way i think i would use the sys colored boxes to store accessories like others have done or just create a custom insert out of 1/4 ply

what do you all think, what is the best way to go?

i have the round 5" sanding pad for the multimaster so that would have to fit in there somewhere

One thing i should have mentioned about the orientation of my setup is for balance..Having the tool in the centre means that when carrying it, it remains level.

i like your setup actually,   just from a quick test fit i did, the tool with a e- cut bimetal blade on it didnt fit in the systainer easily width wise (if fits but its tight)  

do you feel like you wasted any space by going diagonal?

what size sys is that in?

Mines is in a sys 2.  I would have liked it in a sys 1 but i felt it too much of a squeeze.  I like the space as i have plenty of room for accessories.  Not for everyone but works for me.  Really glad i put the pig tail on it.

Think you could fit it all in Dean ?  i think it would be too tight if you were to store the accessories in it as well.

barrel grip jigsaw im guessing, no way it would fit with a top handle    its gonna be tight either way!  make sure to let us know how it turns out if you give it a go

I recently got the insert that requires a sys2. I'd call it "just ok". For a moulded insert I think they could have done a little better.

It would have been nice to be able to adapt the original Fein insert to a systainer, the original does a much better job in terms or parts and accessories organisation.

Here's a Tanos insert that might work if you want to keep the Fein in a Sys1 with organization flexibility.

This fits a T-Loc.

I have a fein insert in the bottom of a sys4.  I also keep a Trion barrel grip and a 3x18 belt sander in there.  Perfect setup for me since it has plenty of compartments for jigsaw blades,  fein blades and a spot for the Allen key (it's an old fein).

How do you like the layout of the fein insert?  Kev wasn't so thrilled.with it so I'm curious    could you fit  a 5" round sanding pad in there anywhere?

Well if i get a pigtail for multi master there will only be 1 cable in there so will have room for accesories. And as i previously said i only use it for cutting so the blades can be loose. It doesn't have to look all trick in there with compartments for everything, it more about getting the number of boxes in the van down and number of trips in and out of jobs down.
