i was down at woodcraft a few days ago and saw that the t18 and CT mini/midi's were 10% off due to being "old models" i know about the CTs but wasn't aware the T18 was being replaced by a new model? even on the european festool site I didnt see any difference to the current model even though it says "new"

Anyone have any ideas?

Happy New years everyone! :D

The T 18, T 15, and TI 15 are being replaced by newer packages. The newer package has  the new, thinner charger, 4.2 Ah batteries and comes in a SYS 2 instead of a SYS 1. Additionally, the right side has two plastic compartments from the SYS-Box and matching cover.

Thanks!

Wow thats a bummer  [unsure] i was just looking at buying the 4.2 ah batteries. That is a pretty sizable upgrade for the same price. I just got my t18-3 set in August, wish i had known i would have limped my old drill along until this came out. anyone have pictures of the new set? I wonder what (if) i could sell my current set for

Coincidently, my t18-3 is amazing. I battled so long on buying the festool or just getting a milwaukee set again and these drills are truly worth their weight in gold. absolutely incredible, i hate using anything but my t18 or Cxs  [smile] just really wish i had the longer AH batteries  [unsure]

You could also just buy a new battery or two if that is what you are after...the new Systainer set-up looks pretty nice, though.

Here is the new T18 versions with SYS 2, new charger, 4,2A batteries, additional coloured boxes and modified lid.
Photo is of the SET version with additional chunks.

Are the eccentric and right angle chucks the same on the T serve drills as on the older C12's?  I've got a C12 that is in need of new batteries, and I may buy a T18.  It'd be nice to not have to buy the kit with the specialty chucks.

Yes, they are, Bob.

Those 2 chunks have not changed for years and fit all the other Fastfix heads of the TDK, C and T models.
Only the newer DRC and PDC models (NAINA) have a different angled chunk and no eccentric chunk.

The CXS is the only drill sold in North America that has a different right angle chuck. It also has no eccentric chuck.

thanks guys!

considering the cost of the 4.2ah batteries i dont think it makes sense to buy them separately. the battery life of the 3.0ah is excellent until i start boring some pretty good size holes then it drops off pretty quickly. Still excellent batterylife considering but it would be nice to not have to keep swapping batteries.

What do you guys think i could sell my t18+3 kit in excellent condition for? like i said i purchased it in August.

I also bought a Ti 18 set in August with the 3.0 AH batteries but in a sys 2 with new charger etc, considered an upgrade, however the smart option is to buy a 4.2 AH battery (UK price £140 at FFX) Then you will have three batteries to cycle for the same cost as the likely loss on selling your current Ti 18
