T18 drill

Would love any info on the new T18 drill, like cost, when it might be out. I just sent my T15 back for a refund due to problems with it. But I want a new drill.

It will not be available in the US until the Sep-Oct time frame based on current delivery estimates.

Pricing has not yet been announced. You can probably guess about what the price would be based on the difference in price between the T12 and T15.

So the T18 does not have a hammer mode, is that right? If so, I have to say that's just plain stupid. Having a T15 I see no reason to buy a T18 if it doesn't have hammer mode. I'll continue to use my 18V Ryobi for concrete holes or a corded drill. Maybe it's me but I don't get it.

Perhaps the hammer mode would impede with the whole centrotech ecosystem and cause that drill to be less interchangeable with the other drills/chucks. I would rather use my corded Bosch hammer/chipper when I need that functionality.

No, the T18 doesn't have a hammer mode.  There might be some hope in the future.  At the recent door and drawer class I asked Christian if you'd ever see the Protool brand over here and I wasn't surprise by his answer of probably not.  However, he did say there were looking into the possibility of rebadging some Protools tools to bring over here.  Protool has some nice cordless tools that I'd love to have including impacts, drills with a hammer mode and correlated screw guns.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for these in the future.  Please understand this was a causal conversation so don't hold me or Festool to this.

I agree Bob, I have never used a cordless hammer drill and been satisfied. Ive tried that before, not going to do it again.
I would want the T18 for more power (Tim Allen insert) and longer life of battery, but the T15 has been more than I expected from a drill.
I would be more likely to but the new C15

Give me a good corded hammer drill to do my cement drilling. [cool]

I was impressed with the T18.  Lightweight, packs a good amount of power with all the benefits of the Centrotec system.  Drills large holes amazingly well in position '2' high speed with just a little torque reaction and in position '1' low speed with more available torque, there is more noticeable torque reaction when the bit catches, but still manageable.  I do wish it had a side handle for more control in those situations.

I'm all for the corded hammer drills as well, I've used the Makita cordless sds drills briefly and they did the trick fine boring into solid concrete but I have my doubts as to how long their bats would last. They use the same ones as their regular drills and they're rubbish. I'll stick to a cord job thanks
