Hello All,

Tanos is Germany is comming with a new latches for the systainer and would like to feel the US market.
What do you think? would you buy a set of latches with a key lock on it and if yes how much would you pay!
Would you like to see multiple colors?
I understand the lock is not to protect from having the tool stolen, but more to be sure no one use your tool when no on the job or if you have document... thing of these matter.
Also, if you like to give more feed back Tanos as now a Fan Club on facebook just look for Tanos systainer.

Thanks

Franck,

I probably would not pay even the $25 for locking latches.  I'm on jobsites, and unfortunately, it's easier for bad guys to just pick up a systainer and walk off with it.  But different colored latches would be interesting to see.  I would have a use for those.

Another idea from the end user training was being able to buy just the new storage or "attic" lid for my existing systainers.  I could go for at least a dozen of those right now.

Thanks, Dan

Dan,

Check out Japan WoodWorker, they have various colored latches.  http://www.japanwoodworker.com/dept.asp?s=JapanWoodworker&dept_id=23401

I second the locking latches.  Someone would just pick up the whole thing.  Hopefully followed by a beat down.

Different color latches would be sweet!!

I know its been said before but, can the label be printed on the systainer itself?  I have too many and am getting confused.

Look like some of you like to see different colors?
go to www.mysystainer.com they have in stock Red, Yellow, sky blue, sapphire blue, emerald green and anthracite.

I am will bring in the future orange.

Hi Dan,

What do you mean by "being able to buy just the new storage or "attic" lid for my existing systainers"

Franck,

I'm referring to the systainer 2 that comes with the new t+3 drills.  The lid has a nifty small parts storage area built in.

I know festool will be coming out with the empty systainer with this lid soon, but I would prefer to just buy the lids, put them on my existing systainers, and hopefully save a few bucks.

Dan

I will check with Germany to see if the lid can be purchase separately. But you will have to request the dealer to get them in their next order.

Franck

Franck,

First, I'm sorry, I just realized I've been misspelling your name.  I've corrected my earlier posts.

Thanks for looking into the lids.  I'm sure, just from talking to some of my comrades, that the lids could be a good seller.

Thanks again, Dan

Actually, all jokes aside, I've used the sharpie method for years, and when it's time to re-label a box, a bit of lacquer thinner on a coarse rag takes the ink right off ( be careful of the green Festool lettering, though, it shmooey's up good.)  I just wish I could learn to read my own writing now.

Hi Franck,

Thanks for the link! But for some reason I can't open it... Facebook will direct me to my start page... Anyhow, I would still like to join your group! Maybe you can send me an invitation? Just an idea...  My user name is Andreas Schwall

Cheers,
Andreas

If you set up a poll and ask "Would you buy a set of latches with a lock on it and how much would you pay?", wouldn't it be kind of a necessity to include the option "No"?  ;D

Because I would say no, personally, I don't see the use for them. People will just take the whole systainer.

What I would like to see is more different types of inlays. Preferably a system where you could design your own. And not just permanent inlays that are meant to sit always inside the systainer, but trays you can take out. For example, say you want to take your hand tools with you in a sys 3. It would be very nice if you could have a set of 2 or 3 trays you could stack inside the sys3 with your tools in them, and take tray by tray out on the job site.

the reason is we already design the new latches but like to know what price end user will be interested to pay?
Again, the point of the lock is not really to protect your tool from being stolen but more like a protection for someone not to use the tool for example you go out to lunch someone take your tools and do something he should not do with the tool ???? He doesn't care it is not his tool.. Also, for Tans Systainer we have also office systainer and some other for file organizer etc.. the lock will be another protection for someone to look inside. I hope you understand my point???

Franck

I can totally see your point! Some of the tools I don't want to be available for my staff. As some tools are perfectly adjusted and I don't want them to get messed up....
As for the office systainer it makes even more sense!

Yes to have a lock in a ABS box makes none sense for protection!
Now, about your nice router bits and A/C or you are in a home with children?? it also can be use more as a safety device.
