I got the festool tape measure last christmas and the tape spring is shot.  Does it have any warranty?  Someone told me the warranty is only for powertools and to chuck it in the trash.  Anybody have any experience with service and a non-powertool festool?

You got yours to last this long? i got mine for free when i bought the domino last spring, t'was a nice tape but after using it a couple times the coil sprung loose. I tried to fix it by rewinding it but it didn't work well enough. My opinion is that it's pretty much crap not up to festool standards.
I think that if you have the bill proving you bought it less than a year ago, then they should be able to do something for you.
Festool has to respect your local or national warranty code, in europe all manufacturers are forced to give 2 year warranty on anything electric. on non electric stuff it's 1 year i think.

I'm sure it's made in china under the festool name.  I did love the way it measured to the inside and the circle drawing was a great function.  I guess I need to stick with the small starrett and beleive it or not my craftsman.  Every time that spring gets loose, just walk into sears hand it to them and they hand another one to me and I walk out.  That's a warrantee!

I know that when that tape measure came out there had been some posting either here or elsewhere of it being available in other colors/brandings. There were pics of it in black with red somewhere.  In anycase I believe it is just a Festool branded item.

Complaints of its quality had been posted before as well. It does have some neat features though.

Crapsman stop replacing and making tapes. I just went through that a few months ago and now use the Husky tapes with a lifetime warranty. Im not a Husky fan boi but I like there tapes now.
