I did the same thing to my Festool tape. I bought another one even with its obscene price. I really like the circle making fester as well as the the "screen" on it that allows you to measure from the back of the tape. Ivery attached it to a magnetic belt clip tape measure holster which gives it some durability as it has some "back armor".
Thanks for the heads up on the tape not being accurate. I use Fastcap tapes in my shop and for layout. Job sites rough framing is usually a Stanley Fatmax as it extends out the farthest without bending.
I bought the Festool tape for large circles. Better check the tape against others to see how they line up. Thanks again for the heads up.
Good to know about the Festool tape. Like most here I have an extensive collection of tapes from 30m fibreglass to 2m cabinet maker's.
While working in Europe I noticed that most craftsmen still use the folding wooden measuring rule, just like the one that my grandfather used. I wonder if the reason for the issues with the Festool tape is that they are not the norm in Germany.
