Why is Festool closing out the TDK 12?  Will it be replaced by another drill?  If so, what are the differences between the TDK 12 and the new model?

TIA,  Joe

Joe,

Probably going to have either a brushless motor and/or Lithium batteries.

Joe, I would bet Festool will come out with a new model. They seem to be keeping it pretty quite if one is coming out in the near future.

You know the question is not if but when. Well the main question anyway. ;D

Eli,

The current TDK 12 has numbers very similar to the newer C 12.  I'd like to see a "C 15.6" with all of the features of the C 12.  Additionally, it would have more torque and a selection of NiMh or Lithium batteries.

Mrs. Sandy Claws says put it on the list but she's betting I'll just get switches and coal.

Right, my point being they will be coming out with a new model (as usual) and we don't know when.

I would be happy to have the choice of a T-handled C12.  The C12 grip feels bulky to my not very large hands.

Which reminds me...

Why do all radio announcers have small hands?

Wee paws for station identification!

Then get one of these:http://www.festoolusa.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=2&prodid=564136

That's the older design.

So what? Besides it not being brushless, the performance is almost identical. And it has the T-handle you want. In fact, the 'older' design has a broader torque setting range. Only useful though if you were sinking tiny screws stripped easily, like if you're a sparky or assemble computers.

I use the tdk12 to install ski bindings as in about 3000 pair since i've purchased it i like it alot, i honestly don't understand the brushless thing if someone would care to explain it i'd appreciate it. i used it today from nine a.m. til 7 p.m. had to change the battery once, granted i wasn't using it non-stop, almost tho, had a few tune-ups to do. i guess my point is i'd say it's a great drill and if they in fact discontinue it you may get a bargain. happy holidays. dan
