Just completed nearly a two day project installing fiberboard insulation to my vertical lift garage doors. Went through (12) 4X8 sheets of 3/4" insulating boards cut to various dimensions to double up in the many pockets of the doors. Each pocket now has a full 1 1/2 inch width R10.0 insulation that will keep the workshop comfortable here in Florida...especially after I install AC/Heat/DH.
This was my first chance to really put the PSC420 to work. I used a single S155/W (the long wavy blade) for the entire project, and it still has some life left in it. The Carvex was a dream to use, though a little heavy after long use due to the 18V battery. Cuts were easy to maintain along cut lines, and I really liked the strobe because I was not using any guides, so following a line was almost effortless. I did notice the barrel would get warm, but not uncomfortable. Charged the battery twice during the project, and it was full within an hour each time after being completely drained. Used the A setting for all the cuts, and it went to full speed within an inch of starting every cut.
This project took a lot of work because every "pocket" in the garage doors was different, and I had to use two panels cut for each one to get the 1 1/2" width. It's a three car garage with an oversized two-car door and a single door. Glad this one is done because it is just grunt work without any artistic thought involved!
All in all, I am more pleased with the jigsaw than I can relate. It is just AWESOME!
