The best thing about systainers.....

Since Festool systainers all look pretty much the same (at least in my wife's eyes) it isn't all that hard to hide a new toy amongst the bunch.  Granted, you need to have more of them than your wife wishes to count.  But there comes a time when you have so many systainers, bringing a new tool into the bunch doesn't really bring about any questions.  Unfortunately, my childish angst often gets the best of me and I can't resist the urge to take my new Festool out and put it to good use.  With sanders, saws, drills, routers, and dust extractors, I am usually in the clear, my wife doesn't even think twice about them.  Again, in her eyes, they all look the same.  It is the more exotic Festools that always draw the questions... the Kapex, the UG cart and extensions, the CMS.

Today I am bringing a really special gem home to the shop.  As long as it stays in the systainer, I will be safe, but that would practically be blasphemy.  I know that as soon as I introduce this beauty into the wild, it will be spotted.  There is no keeping this a secret.  I am pretty sure she has never seen anything like this.  I am sure The impending questions are inevitable.  What is that?  What does it do?  I foresee myself building a lot of storage for the closets and utility room in the not so distant future so I can justify this to my wife.

Definitely will do.  Can't wait to find some time to try it out.  As of yet, I am most impressed with the sample roll of Festool branded edgebanding.  I can see myself building a sysport with that.

Is that CONTURO KA 65 available in a 120 Volt version yet?

Hahah yes I'm close to that many sustainers as well...

Life is easier after 10k of festool

IWISH I had enough work to justify that!!!  Your %25 to that 10k with that purchase alone!??

To my knowledge the KA-65 isn't available in 120 yet.  I am curious though, I have seen some clues that it may be coming soon.  Of course, this is just speculation.

I wonder why it would be listed on a US dealer's site if it wasn't available yet.  And... according to Canadian Woodworking, it will be available this Spring.

We share a common strategy.  Although, I admit I lost track of my Festool expenditures about the same time I lost track of how many systainers I have.  My wife doesn't give me grief about spending the money, she gives me grief because I am running out of room to keep all my Festools.

So.... apart from the awesome sample of edgebanding, the other thing that really stood out was the smell.  I mean this is like the smell of 100 new Festools concentrated into one.  Maybe import Festool just has a stronger smell.

After the pheromones wore off, I managed to throw some banding on some 3/4 melamine.  Surprisingly, this thing is really easy to use. The weight and balance is near perfect.  I also like the fact that it is quiet.  I have a Virutex EB10CF and that thing is a racket to run.

The KA 65 came with 4 or 5 adhesive cartridges.  Priming the KA 65 did take about 2 cartridges.  The cartridges look to be about the same diameter as the Holz-Her slugs.  I am leary to try it, but I thought of cutting a Holz-Her slug down to see if it would work.  I do have a box of Festool adhesive that should be arriving any day now.  I am hoping the KA 65 does see a NA release soon though.  I hate the idea of paying a fortune in shipping to get some of the accessories I want.
