The Big Three!

Welcome Marc,
I enjoy your podcast all the time.  Hope you post some of your knowledge here on FOG also.

Really though, this forum would benefit from pro's like him and people who play with the tools everyday

No doubt, but this brings us back to the point of my earlier post--I've seen the extent of Marc's participation on SMC, so don't hold your breath waiting for him to contribute to the discussions on this site (other than promoting his site, which is one type of contribution).  This isn't a criticism of Marc--I'm just saying "let's be realistic" about what & when we can expect to hear from him in the future.  As he said, he'd like to make time to do more than lurk here, but he's got a business to run.

Regards,

John

Hi John

I don't visit SMC very often but must admit I'd like him to offer up info on this site without being self promoting and if slef promotion is all he has to offer on this site then I'll probably simply ignore it or complain.

In the meantime, I am gonna sit back and see how he contributes.

Fellas,

I wasn't kidding before or making light of Marc's podcast's.

See I was asking in a subtle way if maybe there was a market

for a erudite redneck doing simple straight forward, real life, finish carpentry videos?

Now remember I have a Old Geezer was in the Pitcha business for 50 years.

So we are quite aware of the pitfalls and editing nightmares.

But with the whippersnappers and the you tube....

all we need is one hit.

Kid ya gonna be a star ::)

PS....some of you have seen my act ;D

Per,  if you start doing videos you won't have to self promote, I'll do it for you. First video, "The TS75 can straighten out your life" by the Swenson gang, I can't wait!

Per, Per, Per...when you gonna quit living off the Old Man's talents? ::) ::) ::)

I doubt there would be a lack of entertainment value in a Per video for sure.  Per, do a video and I'll give you the 15 seconds of Internet fame in a SysNotes May Edition :D

the wood whisperer in the house personally I'm flattered I'm sure you'll learn alot from us.

What's your price range? I know guys with opinions.
Of course if it's only for youtube is scarcely matters which camera you use,
as long as it is easy to get into the computer. For that reason alone, stick with tape,
as opposed to solid state or hard drive cameras.

Or, just wait for John Lucas to chime in.

If I were in Bob's position I'd say the same, but,
I've got a feeling you just might have what it takes to wing it.

Give it a whirl, if it doesn't work then plan it out.

We all know you have a unique (and entertaining) way of expressing yourself.
If you can get that on "film" along with some useful info on woodworking
you might happen to possess, you've got a winning combination.

I understand the complaints here and maybe he should have posted under the sales discussion. Then it would be on the up and up. The videos  are about Festools, no? If his post was a question on a tool or info on a tool technique or something, this might be the right place.

If a company selling festools puts up videos on Festools or directs you to a give away then he should post under a different category.

All Tools & Accessories - To talk about tools for people who are not sellers or trying to sell the tools, opposed to a seller answering a questions about a tool.

All sales discussions - To me this is a video and direction to a web site to make sales and/or participate in another web site ie, entering a drawing.  Maybe it  is better in this category

Other than that I see no reason why he can not and should not post on this forum.

Hey John.  You talk as if all I've done is post ads at SMC.  How long do you think I would last there if I did that?  At my last count, I think i have about 65 posts.  Obviously that's not going to break any records, but I sure hope that wasn't 65 links back to my site.  And fortunately, SMC isn't the only forum out there.  You will find I have nearly 2000 posts over at WWA Info Exchange and 1175 posts at WoodNet.

The truth of the matter is I no longer have enough time to actively participate in multiple forums.  Out of frustration and desire to remove distractions, I removed all forums from my easy access bookmarks.  That worked surprisingly well, by the way.  So my participation in all forums has dropped off lately.  While I will chime in on posts when I can, there are many times when my Festool information contribution will come in the form of a 5-15 minute video ( I do a couple a year).  If its Festool-related, I would assume its ok to post here, as long as someone tells me the proper place to post it.

I am no forum novice and I understand how these things work.  A person needs to "prove" themselves before having the privilege of pointing to their outside content.  You need to be wined and dined first...........I get that.  :)

And thanks everyone for the supportive comments.

First off I need to apologize for not participating more in what is one of my favorite forums to read.  I promise to remedy that.

So, can we expect the "truth" or the "promise"?

Marc, speaking for myself only, I'm not looking for any "wining and dining", I just don't care for being perceived as so easy to BS.

John

C'mon, what BS?  He contributing Festool info on a Festool forum.  Nothing more nothing less!
