The End of Woodworking For Me.

Several years ago, I was a frequent member on this board, under the name of "Knock On Wood"…. I had built a Custom Boom Cart, and had shown pictures of it here on the board, and many members liked it. 

Just 2 weeks after finishing that project, I fell the length of the cellar stairs onto the cement floor, which resulted in a broken back.  At the time, my wife was working, and I was home alone.  I couldn't move, and luckily only had to wait an hour on the floor, before my wife arrived home, and was able to get help to bring me to the hospital. 

Since that time, I have been unable to do any woodworking, because I am unable to stand in one spot very long.  We have decided to sell our home, and move into a condo so that it will be easier around the house for me.

So, I am selling all of my power tools in the Classified section of this Forum…. The items I am selling are listed below…

I hope the moderator will give me the flexibility to list these items in this thread….

Although it's little consolation, I'm sorry to hear about your changed circumstances, and can only wish you the best in the future.  I know Lewiston somewhat, having gone to school for a year back in the 90s at Bowdoin.  My wife and I still do a drive by every year on our way to visit her aunt up past Ellsworth, right next to Arcadia National Park.

Thank you all for your concern, and compliments on the Boom Arm cart…. it is much appreciated…

We listed the house, "For Sale" with the broker today…. hopefully we will have a buyer before the severe winter sets in…

I have sold the Rockler WW'ing Bench, and the Makita Miter saw today, to a buyer who is a Cabinet Maker here in Maine… (sold through Craigslist)

I hope I'm not speaking out of turn here, but do you know that there is a lot of experience with how to rehabilitate back problems in the weightlifting and strength training community?

That seems to help many people where physiotherapy does not. It is called the musculoskeletal system for a reason.Depending on the nature of your injury, something like that may ameliorate your condition to a greater or smaller extent.

I'm not sure of the best entrypoints I can point you to, to help make my vague advice more concrete to you.

A good place to start may be to look at the forum thread at http://startingstrength.com/resources/forum/showthread.php?t=53449 and ask for advice in the same forum, there are a lot of coaches with and without medical backgrounds who hang out there that the members can point you to.
