That's one little kick _ss sander!

At the moment (the pass few years) to fill the void in my Festool sander collection I've been using the Metabo 3 inch random orbital sander.

I can't wait to have this little puppy in my sanding den. To that effect I like the idea of the sanding assortment systainer but,,,,,,,,,,
kicked up a notch to include all accessories  available, (all the pads, Protector Set, Auxiliary Front Handle, etc)
I've been using Festool sanders long enough to know that this is a complete no brainer.

Hi, Shane.  +1 on the sander and abrasive assortment.  I'm surprised people aren't already arguing about which abrasives should be in it, or arguing that there should be five different abrasive assortments to choose among, or that each buyer should be allowed to custom-pick his abrasives.  Good luck with this one.

Well, I'll solicit feedback on what abrasives but this could definitely get messy. So, let me propose two options without getting into the details of which type/grit. There are eight "spaces" for abrasives in the RO90/DX93 abrasives systainer. Would you guys rather see:

4 spaces with DX abrasives / 4 spaces with round abrasives

-or-

All 8 spaces with half and half of DX and round. Let's assume they would share the same type/grit. For instance, one space might have 120 grit Brilliant in round and delta shape.

Thoughts...?

I like the mixtures since you've get more of an assortment.  Again, let me say that this is just throwing ideas at the wall.

For sure, +1 on the assortment.  And I really like your second idea.  The sandpaper last so long that having 50x of a given grit isn't always useful.  But having a wide variety of grits is a way for users to figure out which ones are most used and most needed.

We all know (or should know) that in order to get a superb finish one must methodically go thru the grits to the desired smoothness.
Skipping grits is a no - no, unless of course you desire little half moon curly marks in your finish. [scared]

At the moment we have large quantities of 125mm and 150mm round papers, as well as the current Delta papers.

For sure I was always planning to order the T-Lock empty Systainer for the 90mm papers.

I would certainly buy the assortment, with all 8 positions filled with a mixture of the round and Delta papers, so as to have 8 different grits. I am happy with Brilliant.

This could work!

One could have a T-Lock assortment with a mix of "circle" and "triangle" pads in each slot, thus covering the whole range in both modes.

While there's nothing currently in the works, there's plenty of time for something like this to be put together. I'm definitely in favor of an abrasives assortment. If something does get put together, I'll let you guys know for sure.  [wink]

Edit: How about this... Anyone who's interested in the RO 90 and would like to see an abrasives systainer with an assortment of abrasives, post and let me know. I can use this to gauge interest and hopefully make the argument that something like this should be offered as an intro special. [big grin]

Definitely interested in this sander.  I've picked up one promo assortment for the RO150 and love it.  I would do the same for my other sanders.  If you could pull off the 8+8 on this one, I'd buy them both on March 1.

Having just purchased a RO125 and going through some sanding today, I'm definitely a fan of the Rotex line. I would be interested in the sander, and the promo sustainer + paper sounds like a no brained purchase. Count me in for the 8+8 option.

Another vote for the RO90 + abrasives (8+8, Brilliant) promo.  It would complement my RO150 nicely and I would likely get this instead of a Fein or similar small sander for places the RO150 is too big or heavy to use.

What about other accessories? Pads, edge protectors etc? Can you make TWO versions of RO-90: one is just Rotex, second one is the Rotex SET with all pads/edge protectors. Like Domino/Domino set. What about Granat/Diamant intro packs? (5 of each grit)

Roger, that's what I was proposing with my second option. Maybe I wasn't clear in my description. Anyway, thanks for all of the feedback so far. Very helpful. As for the accessories, I doubt there will be a "set" version of the RO 90. I can certainly pass along the feedback of including some/all accessories with the abrasives assortment systainer.

Roger, one more note, the front handle and auxiliary handle are only for the RO 150. Since the site includes information about the complete Rotex family of sanders, I included accessories for all three models. There's a line for each accessory that denotes its compatibility.
