Tolerences for Blum Tandem undermount drawer slides?

Does anyone know what the tolerances are when building a drawer box for use with Blum Tandem slides?

The size of the drawer box relates to the interior size of the box, not the exterior - I see a lot of people give the wrong info about this. The interior width should be your internal cabinet width minus 42mm.
So, your overall drawer box will be: interior cab width - 42mm + the thickness of your drawer sides.
This allows you to use material up to 16mm thick and allows for any variation in thickness of your chosen material.

I understand how to calculate the "perfect" size for the drawer box, what I'm wondering is how far off of perfect you can be and still have things work. For example if the inside of the box is 41.5 mm or 42.5 mm will it work?

I was hoping that Blum would have published something that gave the tolerances on the measurements (in other words how much of an error and in which direction(s)) could you make and still have a useable box? I've seen tolerances for side mount slides -- for example Häffle says 12.9 mm -0.0 +0.3 -- but I'm striking out finding similar numbers for undermounts.

Hettich undermounts, which use the same dimensions, state '+0, -1.5mm', for what it's worth.
Is there a reason why you can't make them to the exact size?

That's most helpful. Thank you.

Knowing the tolerances is good both for knowing what to do if you discover a measurement is off after you've machined a set of parts, and also to know which side of the line you want to be on. It also helps to get my heard around the degree of precision that the parts want.

I don't know the actual tolerances, but have found them to be pretty forgiving in my amateur cabinetry attempts.  I've probably installed about 50 Tandem or Movento slides and have always been able to adjust them appropriately.  They are much easier than side-mount ball-bearing slides to get right.

Hi,

I have built my fair share of drawers using Blum Movento drawer runners.  The length of the drawer is easy.  Nominal length of runner less 10 mm.  So for a 550 mm runner the drawer length is 540.  Easy.  The inside drawer width is the drawer opening less 42 mm.  Drawers can be 5/8 (my preference) or 1/2 inch.  Therefore the drawers can be within 1/8 plus 1/8 or 1/4 inch.  Seemingly a reasonable amount of tolerance.  I haven’t had too many issues with them.  Other than when first using them, I watched a few videos from the US.  The drawer slides up here in Canada are different than the ones used in the US.  We have to cut a notch in the front of the drawer box, and a notch in the back.

If you are not using system screws, make sure the head of the flat head screws you choose is flush with the body of the slide. The clearance between the leg of the slide and the box is not much.
