ToolNut Kapex “Pre-Order” for 2022

I can’t seem to find any information on this other than the combo sale Festool ran last year. Was there a change made on the model recently (post 2019 REB)? Or is the pre-order badge more of a “back-ordered” status notice. It even says “Updated Model”

"Updated Model" has always referred to the post-2019 updated version with the angle finder stored in the back and the motor updates, along with the smaller changes to the overall model.  "Pre-2019" is the usual moniker of the older version.  To wit, the model number "575306" is the 2019 updated version of the Kapex.

With supply chain issues, Kapexes (Kapices?) have been hard to get in many places, so the "Pre-order" is most likely because they don't expect stock until the stated May, 2022.

Not to take anything away from Toolnut, but if you have a need of a Kapex, other retailers show that they have stock.

I can't relate to U.S. vendors, but I picked up a CTL 26 yesterday from my favorite vendor in Mannheim.  They had a KS 60 and KS 120 REB on display (they weren't there last week), two of each on the shelves, and two KS 120 REB saws on hold waiting for the buyers to pick them up.  No shortage here!

I actually thought hey wait a minute. Why not call Festool and ask!

They said exactly the same thing and I made a purchase from Beaver Tool. I did initially try to buy from my local reseller (an hour drive) but they stated “yeah we have none. Don’t know where you’re going to get that. No one has them. We have two customers ahead of you so it’ll be next year.” Rather than argue I just took my business elsewhere. Really hoping it ships fast.

I was on the "Pre-order" list for a Kapex with ToolNut, my preferred dealer since Bob Marino retired, but when the delivery dates escalated from Sept 8 to October 10 to January 2022 I looked elsewhere. Found Beaver Tool listed the new Kapex in stock so I ordered it last night and it shipped today. UPS estimates a Saturday delivery.
It's got to be maddening for dealers that are out of stock with the extreme slow supply chain issues Festool is experiencing.
