Top Storage on T15 systainer

Here's the sys5 w/the attic I mentioned before.  The senco was modified a bit, I cut off the handle and frame.
The only other modification you'll see are the 4 rubber feet I took off of the Senco and added to the bottom of the systainer, both for noise control and to protect finished floors.

How do you get the lid of a systainer? I tried to swap some lids out but there's this stabilizer bar at the back that prevents me from accessing the hinges from the inside.

What's the best way to get it out?

Alex,  if you look at the small square opening between the head of the pin and the body of the sys from above, you will see the shaft of the pin.  I use needle nose pliers to pry outward the pin.  If you look at the pic above, the one with the loaded guns, you'll see the pins.

Dan, I am begining to think you are a carpenter by day and a mad scientist at night!!! :D

Just modified the compressor a little. 8)

Ok thanks Dan, I'll try it out.

True, True,  I HATE noise, and bulk, and lots of trips to the truck.  The Senco is a great compressor for me.  Lightweight, quiet, and small. (and cheap) This set up works because, like Craig, I like task specific tools in one box.  The comp. stays in the box, allowing me to easily move freely from to room to room.

That's why I like the Attic storage.  Can't wait to add a few more to my existing boxes.

Dan,

In Indianapolis we had such a short time to talk, but I'm sure everyone here would love to hear a little about your past and what you currently do - if you'd care to share.

Peter

Well Peter I might, but if I give away too much who will buy my soon to be best selling autobiography ?

"Saws, dust, and the ways to inner peace"  ( ok, it's just a working title)

Maybe I will just mosey over to member connections and post a short bio.  Thanks for the thoughts.

Dan

Great Ideas guys.

I am to the point of having a large amount of these tools now and am thinking along the same lines as Craig and Dan.

I need to go out to the garage and Frankentool something, I feel left out!!

Hey everyone thanks for the responses let me go and make a quickie demo of disemboweling disassembling  ;D  Systainers

Craig

thanks craig, excellent video. a picture/video, really is better than a thousand words!

regards, justin.

Thanks Craig, very helpful.

You should post that video with an appropraite title like "Taking a systainer apart" in the Festool How To... section so people can easily find it.

craig,,, thank you for doing that I am going to switch my lid to a larger one for my pasload guns with nails on top.  thanks

Very nice video Craig!

Do you know how to take apart sortainers as well? I would like to take some apart and put them together as a single unit - do you know if that is possible?

Thanks Craig!  Cool vid.  My mom always said learn something new every day.  I'm good for the whole day.

Thanks everyone.

I will post it in the how to section.

Ahh Sortainer destruction :o  My attempts to disassemble sortainers have been thwarted so far by their Price tag and the great chance that i will render one useless for my attempt  IIRC there are several locking nubs/clips that must be opened all at the same time.... let me look at one later and see if I think I can make a go of it.

The light just went off for another frankenstainer.. ;D ;D ;D
Will be back.

Craig
