After a year of procrastination I finally bought the UG cart for my Kapex, I really did not want to spend almost a thousand dollars on a metal frame and extruded aluminum wings, however now I've played with it for a day all I can say is wow! Wish I'd bought it sooner it turns your Kapex into a much more accessible tool, only got it today but I will post a full review after I've throughly tested it.

Exactly ... if you're not enjoying your Festool investment you simply need to buy more [wink] [big grin]

When i bought the UG extensions it was a hard one to swallow. All that money for extension wings?? Since using them for a few months i don't regret it at all. They are fabulous. Couldnt agree with your post more.

That's what I do. But I learned from my festool hero.

When I got my Kapex I got the whole system at once because of what I learned - I'm a DIY guy for two primary reasons: (1) cost savings and (2) contractors I can find don't care as much about fit and finish as I do.  Initially the Festool system completely contradicted the cost savings point above until I learned how much more efficiently ( time = money) and accurately (fit and finish).  Soon as my wife and I got it was easy to buy Festool without a fight.  Now we just roll the tool expense into the projects.  Festool are cheaper than contractors.

Very true,  thanks guys, for making me feel better about spending so much.I was cutting face frames today for our kitchen,  it went great due to the cart and wings, now if I can only find out how to put the wings back in the staps I've  tried every which way, I finally gave up. And put a bungee cord around them.

I'm embarrassed to say it but I had to google videos to figure it out.  Once I did I snapped a few pictures to help me get back to good.  Hope they help.

They interlock like this..

Brilliant little carrying case but nearly impossible to put back together using common sense (as far as I'm concerned anyway and I'm good at this kind of stuff).

Thanks, those photos are great, I'll be able to box it up for sure. I wonder why festool doesn't have something like thatin their manual? Which is mostly in German anyway, last time I checked we won the war, so put everything in English too Festool, you clever little Germans. Just joking, I'd hate to upset our germen festoolians.

Lol.  Congratulations, I know how you feel.

BTW, did you run into problems registering the cart on the Festool site?

I have not registered anything myself, I thought my dealer was supposed to do that bit. I guess I should check.

I originally bought the MFT-Kapex, but have recently been wishing I'd bought the UG instead.  I love being the idea of being able to stash the UG w/ Kapex in the corner of the shop and only wheel it out as needed.  Probably going to pull the trigger soon and keep the MFT for small assembly tasks -- I believe it should nest under the MFT3 nicely.

That DeWalt Stand of your's looks handy, and it should work well.  I took my cue from Sitting Elf and got the Delta portable stand; can't see anything else which would work better in my shop.  Added the FastCap extensions and stop; all in for less than the price of either the UG stand or the UG extensions.  It ain't all green, but it works fine.

If your Kapex is on the move alot the UG stand and wings are a must but if it doesn't get out much the dewalt stand is fine.

When it comes to packing up the wings it is easy when you have done it a few times, just remember the bottom of the legs go in the sticking out bit of the plastic ends.

I'd agree wth Doug, however for me I have a small double garage 400 sqft and when I'm trimming up long stuff it's easier to just take the whole set up out side, better light and more room.
