I just ordered my first Festools  [big grin].
TS55REQ Track Saw, 1010EQ Router, CT26E Dust Extractor and some accessories.
Very excited about placing this order.

I am new to this users group, and I have a question:
The CT26E comes with a hose do I need the larger size hose when I use with the Track Saw?

Was reading someplace on the web that I need the larger hose for the Track Saw.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum and to Festool.

While you don't need a larger hose, the 36mm hose which is optional may provide better dust extraction. The hose that comes with the CT 26 will work with the TS 55 REQ. The 27mm hose that you will get plugs into the inside of the dust port, while the larger 36mm hose would attach to the outside of the dust port. So, either will work.

I have a TS55, CT26 and OF1010 and only use a 27mm hose.  I also have an OF1400, and there have been times when the chips it produces has blocked the inlet to the hose.  One day I'll get a 32mm hose, but it's not urgent.

The only things I have that need a bigger hose are my thicknesser and a router table that has both fence- and underside- extraction; I have an unbranded 63mm hose for them.

Burdwood22,

[welcome] to The FOG!

Your OF1010 only works with the 27mm hose, and that is large enough.

As Shane said, the 27mm hose which came with your CT26 can work with the TS55REQ

However, with the track saws, a major advantage of the 36mm hose is that it will not be as prone to hanging up on the guide rail. Also there will be an improved dust collection. Later, the larger Festool routers, the OF1400 and the OF2200 really work best with the 36mm hose. They produce chips as well as dust. Chips clog the 27mm hose more than the 36mm hose.

The large tools, like the saw, the larger routers (1400 or larger) seem to have improved dust collection with the larger hose. However, it is not as flexible as the smaller hose and that can sometimes be inconvenient. I try to use the larger hose connected to the vac all the time but, with sanders the larger hose doesn't work as well, as yo have to turn down the vac below 1/2 speed.
