tracking system for DOMINO and not only

RonWen , in my adaptation, I can do a few notches in a row at any distance from each other, not moving and adjusting the focus, just move my router.

Thanks for taking the time to make the video Rembo.  It really helps a lot to understand the mechanics of your device.  Very well done.

I like how it is devised whereby you can reference off a previous set of mortices as you progress and each distance between a series of holes can be altered, but what you don't show, which is obvious anyways, is that the matching/mirror piece that will receive the shelves or stretchers, would need to be executed as each series is completed before any distance adjustment is done for the next series of holes.  Quite well done!  [smile]

Wow, now that is impressive. Your jig seems very well conceived and executed. Well, done, and thanks for the video!

I know it will work at the end and with the same step be carried onto the plane.  [smile]

This clearly shows that "for its purpose" it is very fast and repeatable and accurate. Showing that that the deleted posters were just envious.

There is one point where going to another board is not so easy. That is when you extend the jig at 1:39 in the video. That extension makes the jig more versatile with the drawback of easy repetability.

The downside for those who don't make many sets of shelving would be the time it takes to make the jig.

It looks like a great project for jig makers ;)

That goes twice for me!

I hesitate to suggest anything, but I'll risk it anyway.

1.  Others might save a little time by building this with "T tracks." Just for example, for those who aren't familiar with such products, see this web page:
http://www.woodpeck.com/ttrackmain.html

2.  For me it would be worth it to build a second, simpler jig that would only be used to bore matching dominos at the top and bottom of the sides of carcases.  Something like this
main_sspro.jpg

with the indexing things protruding from both sides so as to have mirror-image symmetry.  (The product can be found on this web page: http://www.woodpeck.com/storystickpro.html)

I have used the Woodpeckers story stick for exactly that application.  Works great! The one I have is the first , more basic version. It has the metal tabs with center slots. Perfect for marking Domino locations.

Thank you for the video Rembo, i initially thought it was overly complicated and cumbersome but it seems to work just great.
I think i want to build my own now, but use T tracks. Maybe it can be modified to also work with a  router for dado's instead of mortises.
Have you never been in a situation where the jig wasn't wide enough? say for mortising back panels?

I thought about it and even know how to do it.

Hi Seth.  I also have that product, but Rembo's jig does more than just mark the locations--it actually registers the Domino.  The product pictured in my post could do that, but first it would need to be modified somehow in order to register the whole track against two reference edges and clamp it in place.

You Sir are my new mentor. Your craftsmanship is beyond reproach. The domino tracking system is brilliant although prior to your excellent video seemed intimidating. Perhaps if you had the time you could post some plans. Thanks a million for joining our forum.

TomGadwa1,Thank you! but I do not pull on the teacher)) I find it easier to show than explain. everyone who cares, understands himself.
plans are not available. but that could change at any moment.
if only to move away from the topic ..  [smile]

I did not expect that someone will raise the topic.
thanks for the thanks!
until new for Domino is not in sight ..  [wink]
