Trailer racked out

Hi all you guys
Well today I decided to rack out my tool trailer,I had two days off work so I decided to order 20 Festool drawers and have some fun in the sun
I have the drawers already on my cart that i use in people's homes so I know how sturdy they are

by chance did you weigh your trailr before and after to etermine the weight of the cabinetry racks and then the tools you added?

And a request: how about a picture of the "cart you use" when working in customer homes.

For those of us kind of new to systainers, namely me, can you open the bottom systainer with the others stacked on top? Or do you have to take the top ones off to get to the bottom?

[member=59945]Carquest[/member] I would say both, as long as you are talking about the newer T Loc Systainers. If they are locked to each other, you could rotate the latch and open a bottom Systainer while the one(s) on top would stay attached to the lid of the bottom one.... but i think it would be a PITA really and might cause everything to topple over.

The OP of this thread is using the SYS AZ drawers, so each one slides out individually and the Systainer can be opened as needed

Yep! Festool's documentation says not to use them in a trailer or mobile situation, but there have been many people who have posted similar installations and i can't recall anyone yet saying they had a failure or issue with the SYS AZ drawers...

We have just driven through the new forest with them ( small windy bumpy roads )we bounced the living daylights out of the trailor pulling it with a transit truck
None have come open, my cart went over a few weeks ago in my van and was only partialy held up (cart was forward by atleast 60 degrees) all six drawers remained closed even in those circumstances
The drawer system is a briliant item hence racking the trailer
The only down side is the new drawer systainers you cant open the drawer in the drawer you have to lift it out slightly, but other than that no complaints here

Really nice setup, I've been considering something similar myself recently.
What size is your trailer? Is it an Ifor Williams bv105?
I've been looking for a second hand one for a few months but they hold their value so well I'm considering buying new.
Can I ask why you went with the roller door over the drop down/double door rear?

Yes it is an ifor Williams 105, it has the roller shutter door, we looked at the drop down door but decided on the roller shutter due to parking etc.
The sides of the trailer have metal securing strips(the type found in some lorrys)
I screwed timber battens in to them then affixed plywood to them, making a very strong wooden box within a fibreglass box

I can report that after 6 weeks of continuous bouncing and abusing the shelves etc are still exactly the same as when fitted, these Festool drawers are great
