Train Bed

I was wondering why those photos looked significantly better than most.

There are some interesting compound angles in the front of the "bed".
Are they mitered or butted and filled?

They're mitered, but still needed some fill where the nose of the train met the sides (you can see the nose piece in the photo with my son).  I came up with a technique that worked surprisingly well;

- I assembled the entire train minus the nose,
- put a whole bunch of wood filler where the gap was
- let it sit for 20 minutes
- then bolted the front of the train on so it made and impression and let it sit for 30 mintues
- removed the front and let it dry fully.

Then when it was dry I put the front back on, sanded the excess off and ended up with a near perfect fit that was still 2 separate pieces.

The did you make the handles on the chest of draws in the first photo? Look really cool, have you a close up photo of them?
