Trammel rods for OF2200?

I am in need of smooth 10mm rods about 4000mm in length (or 13.123ft) in order to use the OF2200 for trammel work.  I would need 2 of these.  I also would like 2 @ 2000mm for when Im performing smaller radius work.  I've tried threaded rod but cannot find metric sizes.  3/8 is too small, were using 3/8 now and using depth stop collars on both sides of the router, not really safe.  I would like to be able to use the locking mechanish on the router & I need 10 mm rods to do this.  Please let me know if anyone has been able to find these or a similar solution.  Thanks JF

Just doing a google search for 10mm rods shows numerous sources.  The longest I see is 3 ft.  You could try asking the various companies if they will supply the length you are looking for.  Shipping will be ridiculous because they will have to be extremely well packed and come truck freight.

I searched on 3/8" stainless steel rod and got  a few hits. Online metals was one and have six shipping locations. Don't know how to import their URL into this reply.  They had rod to 96" (2400mm)

Seems to me you could make this easier on yourself, make a plywood trammel out of 3/8" or 1/2" ply.  I make the "connection" between the router and ply with a 30mm guide bushing and 30mm hole in the ply.  Couldn't be easier, just grab a scrap piece of ply and a couple of holes and you're good.  Also, it's so cheap and easy to make I don't bother storing the ply trammel when I'm done.  Toss it and make another one if/when you need another.

If you have guide rails use those.

Guide rail bracket for the 2200 with 2 stops to keep the router from moving, 5/16" bolt in the hole in the end of the rail. This give you an infinity adjustable trammel. I do this at least once a month.

thank you guys for the great ideas.  I like using the 30 mm bushing, wouldnt this have the ability to jump out or do u also screw to the ply with the two holes in baseplate.  I also like the idea with rail but im trammeling 1 1/2 material and this doesnt seem very sturdy  maybe im wrong.  i will entertain all ideas, i would just like to have long lengths of rod bc then I wouldnt be losing any plunge depth like i would using the 30 mm bushing.  How deep is the bushing, will i have to use 3/8 ply at least?  If I had longer rods I can simply ride on my workpiece center to my trammel point...  Thanks again alll

I have made plenty of ply trammels with various routers over the years but using my 1400 and the guide rail will be my go to method from now on.

Can you make a temple out of 3/8" MDO then use that on your 1.5" material?

I have cut 1" material 12' out with the rails already. Intermediate support is key no matter what you use that far out.

I would think that 10mm rod 13 feet long would not be straight or rigid. Just my honest opinion. I would do the plywood or MFS and if you run out of bit you can always use a pattern once the cut is started.
