Transportable System

Very clever and well done! Makes me glad I never have to work mobile so I dont have to worry about coming up with neat, mobile, compact ideas like these!

[member=66433]Mgildersleeve[/member]  - my hat's off to you for this demonstration of creative problem solution AND execution! a "TEN" !
Your video with title explanation is the icing on this cake - well done.

That's a fantastic build! Although I am in a garage workshop, I was aiming to have most things mobile anyway, so will hopefully utilise some of these ideas. Thanks for sharing.

Here’s some detail pics of a self centering, expanding dowel and a guide rail clamping stop. I keep forgetting to take a picture of the fence.

Hello there,

what a bunch of great ideas!

I don't understand the expanding dowel, though. (which is obviously entirely down to me)

If you turn the knob, then why does the bolt move downwards, rather than just twist within the dowel, without actually moving down (or back up again)? Also, can't you overtighten them, after which they can't be removed from the MFT any longer?

Jim.

Jim,

At first the bolts would spin a lot more than they do now. Each one is different. If one won’t stop spinning and I need to tighten it more, then I just use a screwdriver to hold it place while I tighten.

As far as being over tightened, yes, they often stay wedged when I loosen the knob, but then you just push down on the knob and it pushes the bolt free.

This whole thing is truly outstanding.
I especially like the simplicity of the systainer shelves!

Wow! Your system is pure genius. I’m eager to incorporate as many of your ideas as I can. Thanks for taking the time to share what you’ve done and to do it in such a polished video. Please keep it up.

WOW  [eek] Very nice.

Thanks to my local FOG friend LawHoo for his PM, which got me to the FOG this morning, and  then to  this thread.  I had missed it before.

Great system, I have watched the video a couple of times now. I hope you will consider offering plans for sale soon.

Some how I missed this posting back in January.  It's phenomenal!

You made all this just so you can improve your production workflow and do your actual work on site.  I wouldn't be able to build anything as nice or functional or as efficient if I spent the rest of my life trying.

Outstanding job.

Impressive.  Please continue sharing your work.  As someone who moved from a large space to a smaller shop, I find a lot of inspiration in your work station.

Well done! Very inspiring. I’m looking for ideas like these for my ‘portable’ shop - needed because I do auto mechanic work much of the time that consumes all garage space.  You’ve done a lot of neat stuff here and it’s hard to pick favs but the clamping lounge/reimforcement bridge with rolling cabinet has to be the winner. Bravo! I think you could sell plans for much of this and get takers. I’d bite.
