We have a family tradition that the grandkids get treasure boxes on their fifth birthday. Here is one that I recently did for a granddaughter turning five this Wednesday. The carving is based on a tutorial book on Northwest Native American art that I got on our 6-week drive to Alaska this summer. She is the daughter of my youngest son, who is blind. I added the aromatic cedar and the Braille initials for him.
