Yeah i know, a jigsaw that doesnt cut straight? really? who would have thought?

BUT, My issue is the carbide jaws that give the blade extra support near the point of cut are slightly askew. I tried cutting up next to a rail and the blade tilted to the point where it stopped cutting and tried burning its way through. It wont cut a nice straight line using the rail guide if the carbide jaws are set in place. they have to be set back in order to do so.

Has anyone else had this issue and is it a festool fix or can i do it myself?

Captainwrinkles,
Sorry I didn't notice your post earlier.
I have had the same problem, and have subsequently found a solution that works for me with my Trion. The key was to set the speed at a lower setting than 5 or 6. When I first got my Jigsaw it came from the factory set on 6 and I didn't know to change it. I went through weeks of frustration and disappointment, not to mention many, many fried blades. Trying everything from opening the guide blocks all the way, a variety of blade manufacturers and types, I went so far as to buy a Bosch jigsaw and noticed that when I went slowly with the Bosch (it's speed control is on/off trigger), I had much more control and it cut straighter, but the cuts were not 90 degrees to the surface and I had no dust extraction. I started to think about trying the Trion with a slower speed setting, wondering if that might fix the problem. I put in a new blade (Festool long blade) and carefully tightened the guide blocks to where they were just barely touching the blade (they self centered at that point), put the speed control on 2 and tried a cut in 8/4 maple. The results were spectacular. Nice square cuts straight as could be. Oh yeah, also I set the pendulum setting to #1.
Try it, it might help you as well.
Brian
